I love my GS70, but I really would like to upgrade the internal LCD, I have seen there has been a good number of people that have upgraded to a 1080P IPS panel with mixed reviews.

So what are my options? Is it possible to drop in a 4k IPS panel?

Which display is installed because currently? If that is already connected via eDP, one could theoretically obstruct an IPS display.

It has the stock display installed; which I believe is a TN n173hge-e11. It is a 17.3, Matte, LED Back light, with a 30 pin connector (eDP).

I have read a few threads here and there where the stock display was removed and was upgraded to a 1080P, IPS, LP173WF4-spd1; From what I understand this is a drop in replacement.

I was wondering if there was any other options, preferably a 2k or 4k panel.

    Shows 40pin EDP connections only.

Ebay seller also lists it as 40pin.

    So I would say no.
