Last night I placed an order for a GT60 DominatorPro 3K-475. I am surprised that there has not been any discussion of this model on this forum or anywhere on the net for that matter. It seems to me to a pretty incredible configuration. I am coming from a Sager NP8662 (don't laugh, I was not going to take a down-step in my 1920x1200 display - ever) and have been waiting for 15" power models to catch up to ultra notebooks, display wise. But the 8 gb 880m was a bit of a surprise, and I must say a welcome one. I don't think I will be disappointed by getting this.

But are there any thoughts on why this has not been discussed or anticipated?

You can check out reviews of the GT60 3k edition with the 780M since it's pretty much the same.

Thanks for the lead but I am still struggling to find relevant discussions for really the same model. I am assuming that there will be a "Official MSI GT 60 w/GTX-880M Owner’s Lounge" thread created at some point. Maybe then I could get some more information.

You could create the thread if you like :)

Post some pics when you get it and share your impressions.

You may not know that this model just got released on Wednesday so not many people have them in hand yet. Give it a couple weeks and you should see a lot more feedback and reviews about it.

Go ahead and create an owners lounge and be a trend setter. I doubt this model will be nearly as popular as the 680/780m models were because they both offered significant jumps in performance. The 880m is a 780m rebranded with slightly higher clocks and an additional albeit probably useless 4gb VRAM.

Waiting a bit longer till later this year for a high end maxwell gpu refresh would have been the best play. I'm thinking this gen will be skipped and most will upgrade at the maxwell refresh when performance gains are significant.

Yeah well I was reminded when I looking up my order status that I am just a week shy of my current system's fifth anniversary. I had been waiting for a higher than 1920 res screen on a 15" power notebook. I can't really see myself putting off an upgrade for what, another 6~9 months, Maxwell could be. And as I recall kepler was going to be the bees knees and people were ooh so waiting for it. Let's look at the end of this year when folks wont think Maxwell is so swell and they just cannot wait for Neanderthal. (Or whatever "N" is.)

    But point well taken all-in-all.

I just ordered this very laptop from GentchPC and patienty await it's arrival. I too hope for a "MSI GT60 Dominator Pro 3K-475 Official Owners Lounge" thread for this machine. We may as well just make this thread it, is there a way to re-name a thread, lol?...

You could poke a moderator who would likely tell you to create a thread and stop being lazy :p
