Hello. I was browsing the web today when a balloon from
Intel rapid storage technology popped up saying one of my drives had failed. Apparently one of the two SSDs has failed. The laptop still works but this message pops up frequently and I've been told that it signals there isn't long left. Aside from being furious at it not even lasting 11 months I now have a difficult decision to make:

    1. Attempt to RMA and go through the hell I've read so much about
    2. Attempt to replace the SSD(s).

Would it be possible to replace both SSDs with a single larger one, forget that RAID ever existed and somehow get Windows back onto the new SSD in a stress free manner? I really need help this is so upsetting.

Yes there is nothing stopping you from imaging your current drive onto a single one of the same or larger size. What exactly is over threshold on the SSD (I assume it's a smart error)?

All I know is IRST says that one of the drives has failed. IRST says there is no way to know what the error is, just that there is one. Not sure what the over threshold is but it's at 90/120 GB used at the moment. I presume any decent computer shop would be able to sort out the imaging of the drives? I won't have issues with the OS not liking the move from two drives onto one or anything will I?

How would you recommend going about solving this? Sorry to be a bother but I really like my laptop and it's a shame to see it go so early.

Also I have heard that going from 2 drives in MSI's Super Raid card to only 1 causes no end of hassle, is this true?

After 11 months of wear and tear? Wow. Well hopefully you are happier with whatever you replace it with. :)

That's good, but that's crazy for a SSD to fail within short amount of time.
What brand/model of SSD do you have?
