This is really frustrating, the system isn't overheating, but occasionally it goes absolutely crazy with beeps...they are not in any pattern, just random 1 beep intervals...
I've checked the MSI homepage, various forums, even random google searches but I can't find anything that tells me why its beeping! Everything is working fine, there are no errors or warning messages, the system is responsive and all...
Even if there is just a way to disable the beeps and 'sweep it under the rug' I'd be perfectly fine with that, I just want the beeping to stop!![]()

EDIT - Just to add, it beeps when playing games or doing absolutely nothing at all, I'm having a terrible time troubleshooting this...
-
Bump for beeps
-
nothing listed on event viewer?
sounds like a possible transient short on some input. (keyboard/trackpad/usb port) this could be from a loose wire, bad chip, condensation. this is a really vague error. -
What is event viewer? Yea I dont even know where to start with troubleshooting because it doesn't happen all the time, its very random and sporadic. The only USB device I have plugged in is a cordless mouse, but like I said everything works fine even with the beeps...
-
Bumping for the sake of sanity.
EDIT: Example of the beeping...
*.....*....**....*...*......*............*......*.*..*.....*....*
Its not following any type of pattern and its driving me friggin crazy! -
Someday I'll fix this...bump...
-
Is there a way to simply turn off system beeps altogether? I feel like if I don't get rid of them soon I'm gonna do something I'll regret later...like throw it against the wall...
I've reseated the hard drive, RAM, battery, nothing is loose, nothing is overheating as far as I can tell, there is only 1 USB device plugged in (mouse), I'm using Wifi for net access, I've updated every software program I could (Vista, Java etc), full system scan, I've even emptied an entire can of compressed air to it (it wasn't even dusty)...
I am all out of ideas, every diagnostic I've ran has came back with "System Normal"... I'm still waiting on a reply from MSI. -
Bumping again...still beeping...
-
Wow, you've had very little help on this...
Try a full System restore. Assuming that these beeps are from the speakers and not HDD whine or CPU throttling, it has be be software based. After the restore, just install one game or browse the internet for a while without making any more changes... If it still beeps, well then you're going crazy. -
Go to the control panel, administrative tools(IIRC or similar), then select event viewer. Look for the entries with little red stop signs or triangular yellow warning icons.
You could also try running memtest+ to check your memory, and maybe something like speedfan or Sisoft Sandra to check system/hdd/CPU temps. -
I checked the event viewer, there are some errors but they don't correlate with the beeps (both in time occured and time logged).
I'll try some tests this afternoon. -
Is it beeping like the beep when you turn on a desktop ?
Or is it more like a beep that reminds Windows ?
Cause I also got a "beep" (that reminds me of Windows when closing a file or whatever) on stupid Vista ! -
The beeps are not sound files that windows is playing, they are system beeps similar to the POST beeps you get when turning a system on, like from the mainboard...
-
beeps dont seem to be from overheating either, according to SpeedFan
-
Just an update...the beeps have stopped for now, going quiet for a few days now...and I don't know why...I will be back if they start again though...
-
-
someone was hacking your system with beeps and then he got tired and stopped.
Or maybe someone sent you in Morse Code -
This has turned into my beep journal lol.
The system still beeps occasionally, like when I bring it out of sleep mode when I check my mail before work...after about 5 mins though it has had its fill and shuts up... -
Beeping goin crazy again...ugh theres no rhyme or reason!!! If anyone knows where the wire is to just cut this sound or puncture the speaker or anything let me know!
-
Haha...so um...the beeping was goin nuts, probably the worst its ever been, then all of a sudden after maybe 4-6 rapid fire beeps there was a POP (somewhere around the DVD drive) and then silence....
Nothing broke, nothing stopped working, no errors or slowdown...but the beeping stopped just at that moment....odd? -
hey man, i have a GT627.. I am experiencing the same issue... any resolution???
-
wait for the POP...
-
Keeping this thread alive somewhat, because my system still beeps on occasion and for no particular reason.
I THINK it has something to do with the wireless connection and/or network in general...it was good for a few weeks maybe but now its back...beeping consistantly every 1-4 seconds....what a pain -
I've been scouring the internet for a solution to this for the longest time have come accross many solutions that don't work...
Solution 1: Disable Beep in Device Manager
My system does NOT have a "Beep" device to mess with (why I have no idea)...
Solution 2: Disabling Beep in Registry
I WAS able to change this in the registry from "Yes" to "No"...but it didn NOT stop the beeping...
Solution 3: Disable the Beep through command prompts
Typing "sc config beep start= disabled" and "net stop beep" do NOT work (error 1060 is all I get...).
So that has been my journey for the past few months, and I STILL haven't found out why it starts beeping, but sadly the post by Prepseb above is the closest 'solution' I have found, which is just let it go fuggin nuts until it POPS...which is exactly what it did (again) about 10 minutes ago...and now, like before, it is silent...for how long I have no idea... -
Next to this beep sound, is there something else with the system wrong you notice when the beeps are going.
Have you tested and or opened the cover for the notebook and checked the defaults things like the wire connection for the wireless/BT or take out the ODD and run memtest to get just some what more details when the beeps are going. -
Nope, everything is working just fine. No mechanical or software problems exist at all. I've even opened the system and made sure everything was plugged in correctly and snug (effectively voiding my warranty).
I've run Memtest and got normal results. I've monitored the Event Viewer when the beeps happen but they don't correlate at all. Most of the errors there read:
DHCP-Client
"Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address xxxxxxxxxxx."
But these errors are only temporary (for example, when my wife logs on with her laptop I lose internet connection, but I just reconnect 2 seconds later with a different IP). -
Maybe strange question, but from which side of the notebook is the beep coming.
I mean what location, top left/right, bottom left/right. -
From the top-left side of the notebook (facing it)
-
Hey kenji, have you gotten any solutions? this has been bugging me for MONTHS. it makes me want to pick my beloved laptop up, and throw it against the wall.
-
how many beeps ? -
i have the exact same problem as Kenji. its so annoying. and it happens at random moments, and intervals. -
Try vacuuming Your keyboard.
I'm serious.
It might be the keyboard buffer overloading due to a short circuit. If it's not the keyboard, then try vacuuming (or using compressed air spray on) the vents.
-
Punch it
/10 char, never experienced this :/
Rip the KB out, -
Someone mentioned morse code , 1st contact ?
Check your HDD , did you try to reseat some components ? You can RMA'd thething if you still got any warranty left.
GT725 beeping is getting out of control...help!
