    Hi all.

I got hold of my shiny new GT729 at the weekend; first impressions are very good (but oh, the keyboard!). So far, the 'bang for buck' seems mighty fine and I've no complaints about the quality.

I have a couple of questions; some helpful soul posted a list of handy and recommended free tools somewhere and for the life of me I can't find it after copious searches. Can anyone provide a list (I know mobility modder is going to be among them)?

Also, does anyone use and can recommended a cooler tray that's not too expensive? I used to use my old Dell XPS 1710M quite often laid out on the living room floor. After the gfx card fubared, artifacting one month after the 2 year warranty expired, I'm keen to avoid anything that might encourage this beauty to shorten its life span and thought a cooler tray to rest on (and increase airflow) might be helpful.

    Any thoughts gratefully received.

Are you referring to my signature? You can find the drivers in there.

You're in exactly the same situation as me!!! I had a M1710 before this, and it astounds me how hot that thing got compared to the GT725, I'm having the GFX card replaced every time I turn the freakin thing on. Once they start breaking, they never stop.

There was a good thread started some time ago about a cooler for the GT725, which will fit your GT729 fine. Type "GT725 cooler" into the search bar.

So ... it's getting hot a? ... This means that soon I'll find somebody with broken one and I'll take his GPU heatsink. :D I don't wish this to anybody, don't understand me wrong :) But I really want to mod mine and use it at least with HD4850 ... I feel it's gonna be a hell of a machine then :D

Mine will be up and running this weekend with a 3870, should be interesting. I will do some benchmarks with pictures.

I'm tending towards the Zalman NC2000 cooler tray, seems to be a pretty positive response to this overall. OOI, has anyone got one of these with a GT725/729 and got any concrete evidence of temperature reduction?

On a sidenote, I'm almost tempted to try cooking my old 1710XPS's Geforce 7950GTX - sounds like a few people have actually had success doing this and bringing their card back to life.

To cook mine, all I have to do is turn it on. I've kept all of the receipts of dell technicians, so far there are five just for the GPU!!

Dont use the zalman nc2000. Ive tried that. The air goes out the leftside. Between the zalman and the gt725. If u look farback on the 725 owner section, you will see my rig with the zalman pictures. And i really did not notice any worth on it. Just my 2 cents.
