I already contacted support and we are trying to figure it out but I wanted to ask on the forums too.I get white/pink screens while playing games, even ones that are not that intensive like csgo or dota (in both games i get well over 150fps) . I did CPU stress test with prime95 small FTT for 1 hour,no crashes. After that I did blend test for 1 hour,no crashes.I also stress tested GPU with FurMark on 1080p with 8X AA,no crashes or any artifacts.Every single test I throw at it passes with no issues, but as soon as I start playing dota,in less than 10 minutes of game laptop crashes.I tried reinstalling the drivers, first deleted the old ones with DDU then installed new ones to no avail.I have no idea what to do.Currently I'm just using my 2500$ laptop to browse internet because I can't do anything with it.Two days ago I bought arma 3 apex,I was so happy to play the exile mod.Guess what,I started playing it,bam, pink screen.

    Anyone got any ideas ?

edit : I tried downclocking the GPU by 200 mhz, both core and memory, still crashes.

Try using an older version of the nvidia driver.

Same thing, but instead of pink/white screens it just crashes to desktop.I checked the event viewer and it says : "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
Also I saw some other errors saying "The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 7 seconds since the last report." 8 of those reports just procesor number changing, from 0 to 7.

What is your nVIDIA Driver version? Also, are you on the Windows 10 Creators Update or didn't you upgrade yet?

Can you try launch the game in compatibility mode just for test?

I figured out what the issue is...its the GPU itself.I downclocked it by 250 mhz on core and I have no more crashes.Ive been playing games yesterday all day and 0 crashes. As soon as I put it on the stock speeds,it freezes up in 10 minutes of gameplay.I'm not sure if this is worth the RMA cause I'm in europe currently and I bought this laptop in US so sending it back would be a massive pain in the ass.

Yeah you shouldn't have to downclock to play the game. However, according to your stress tests and also many people have same issues with pink screen with DOTA might also try compatibility mode just for test first.

Its not just dota. Its any game, but in dota it happens more often than it happens in other games.I can play arma 3 for maybe 20 minutes before it happens.Strangely enough, arma 2 which is less taxing on the laptop freezes instantly. Its okay tho,i dont think that 250 mhz makes that much difference in fps but still, just knowning that ill probably never be able to re-sell this thing cause its defective makes me sad .

edit : forgot to mention, its not the temps either, gpu stays at cool 55-60c range even when running arma 3 or players battlegrounds on ultra settings for hours at time.

Yeah if it happens on all games you should RMA it since you had to downclock 250Mhz so most likely it's GPU or VRAM can't handle it. Happends to me when I was doing 3D rendering with too much tessellation going on and it will instantly crash the GPU and saying : GPU has stop working and recovered.

P.S: you just prove stress testing and benchmark is useless unless it's tested with real-world use. :D

Yeah it think its the gpu boost causing problems, cause while stress testing it doesnt boost as high as it does while you are playing games. On stress tests it rounds to about 1600 mhz on cores but in games ive seen it go as high as 1800...still,I bought this laptop over CUK and not MSI directly and CUK doesnt have a store in EU.Only hope that is left for me is this piece of text from their website :

"All international customers requiring warranty support will need to contact our diagnostics department in order to identify any defective component(s). If the defective component(s) are modified or replaced by Computer Upgrade King, we will provide a replacement component, a manual for replacing the defective component(s), shipping via USPS Express Mail and we will cover the costs of a repair up to $100 USD if the customer provides a copy of the receipt."

Since you can actually replace the GPU in the GT73VR,my only hope is to ask them to send me a new module.

MSI doesn't ship key components for repair. most likely you will have to send the entire laptop.

That is what I'm afraid of...it would take months to get it back + the shipping cost from EU to US for something this bulky and heavy would be crazy.I guess I'll just have to settle for the -250 and call it a day.Next year im gonna build a proper full size water cooled desktop PC,i'll use this one as a 2500$ web browser. :D

RMA it when you have time in the future and $2500 web browser would be to expensive. :D
