Hello all, new here! I have been researching for the past month, the best desktop replacement I can get that's future proof. Meanwhile, my friends are drooling over razers notebooks, I find their flaws and costs just too much. I discovered the Msi Raiders and almost fell in love, it was so close to being the perfect laptop, both portable and high end, but a few things turned me off, like heating and lack of Thunderbolt 3 and no upgradeability for future proofing.

For the same price as the Raider, there was the GT73vr Titan. I had to consider it, for it had heating fixed although loud, and that Thunderbolt 3 and futureproofing, but it also had its issues as well, so I had to decide between, portability and futureproofing. The decision was down to the wire, but then, I fell into some extra money, thanks my schools 1098T form. doubling my tax return, The GT75VR Titan pro is within my grasp.

I spent past 5 days just watching tons of reviews. with the only downside being weight and portability being low, I don't think I can find a better laptop that will let me game anywhere I want. I already have a huge laptop, which I'm typing on right now, the G73SW Asus Republic of Gamers laptop, a $1600 beast from 2011 that with a few motherboard replacements I have been able to keep running, but it barely plays overwatch with its GTX 460m. shes an old dog now. But anyways, shes huge, about 1.8lbs less than the MSI gt75vr, and at the rear is even wider and taller. so I have been managing with this huge laptop for so long the MSI GT75VR shouldn't even bother me.

So off I went, searching for the perfect GT75VR, I search and search and found many different models, some with 4k, some with the HK i7 some with 1070, and most of them with g-sync. however, none of the models have all the bells and whistles with a 120hz 3m screen. https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GT75VR-Titan/Specification The closest I can come with the -083. it has all I want, except its a gtx1070. Now the pro-202 has all as well with a gtx1080 but it has 4.1bt instead of 4.2 and it doesn't list g-sync. the bt thing doesn't bother me, but why no g-sync? so yeah how frustrating that I cant have the perfect laptop

Now I know G-sync isn't that much of a deal with a 120hz 3ms screen with 1080 under the hood, but it would be nice to have all the bells and whistles, in 3-4 years, my laptop may be running those triple-A games at a lowish Frame rate, that tearing will become an issue or not, who knows. So I decided to dig a little deeper, I searched the dark web, for well.. 3seconds, because notebook review popped up with some posts of people buying the laptop with a g-sync screen.

So whats the deal? Does it have g-sync but is not advertising it, Are these HIDevolution guys, swapping out the monitors, or video cards on these things or something, I would love to know does my perfect titan really exist?

It has G-SYNC but it will never be advertised on MSI's website and even their customer service will tell you it has no G-SYNC when every review site / owner says it does. Not the 4K models though, only the FHD/120hz

I also noticed on MSI website, that it lists SATA, PCIe RAID+ SATA, and NVMe + SATA for each of the laptops, I assume that's just the configuration that its in and not a model only feature, I can always buy two cards and put them in any of these configs if I wanted right?

Yes, both the GT73VR and the GT75VR have the following:

3 m.2 slots (2 are NVMe and one is regular m.2 SATA)
1 2.5' bay or a big HDD or SSD

look at my signature to see how I filled my laptop up with SSDs

Cool, another question, it says you can have 3 external displays in 4k 60hz, but is that downgradeable to 1080 or 1440p in say up to 144hz. ?

The specifications list the maximum that is possible, so yes, anything less than 4K/60 that complies with the HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 standard will work. The laptop has one connector for the former, one for the latter (mini-DisplayPort), and the third monitor would be connected to the Thunderbolt 3, which would require an adapter to DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, or VGA depending on the display. A few monitors have a USB-C style input, but they're uncommon, and no "gaming" displays I'm familiar with have one.
