Hi all,
Bought a GT780 while back. The original 3GB GTX570m card had a blown part so it obviously doesn't work. I have tried an MSI GTX670m and now a Dell FirePro M8900 card and I get no sound.
Playback devices is set to speakers and plugging in anything (headphone or microphone) in the jacks don't trigger a notification through Realtek that something is plugged in.
Laptop is running the latest non raid bios and EC firmware has been updated.
Any idea's?

Perhaps the audio circuit is also bad? MSI can still provide out of warranty service if you wish to proceed. -
you can use a usb sound card. I do not think it is worth to fix mainboard
-
Can they? I'm located in Australia so not sure if the out of warranty services will apply to me.
A USB sound card won't bypass the onboard motherboard Realtek sound chipset and output sound to the speakers though.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -

It doesn't hurt to call and ask first, and please make sure you have serial number handy if they ask about it. -
Hey DigBick,
I'll ask our tech support team here in the US to see what your best options are.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -
A discrete USB sound card will have a separate DAC and will bypass the onboard sound processing.
I realize while it's probably the first thing done, it wasn't officially mentioned, have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers? You will likely need a repair if the driver reinstallation does not work.
We do offer out of warranty support on select items (assuming we have the parts necessary still on hand). The local Australian contact number I have for our RMA department is 1300 222 688. You can also email them at [email protected].Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -

I would say proceed with the repairs or just go ahead with an external option. The external options might be cheaper and less down time.
GT780 no sound at all
