hey guys, so im set on getting the gx640 and i want to get it soonish (b4 it dissapears for good :) ) and i was looking at some youtube videos of it, and someone had one that came with a backpack and a mouse.

So im wondering do these laptops come with free goodies ( bc the backpack and mouse were MSI branded ) or do i have to buy my own?

Lastly, I have not had any experiences with resellers before so do you guys have any recommendations/where did you buy yours ( im in California )

Ok one more question :) , i was looking at RK computers and on the keyboard they had the option of putting a chicklet keyboard does anyone have this?

thanks for all your help guys

The chicklet keyboard is the same one that's used on the GE600 model and some other MSI models. If you look at it, it does not appear to truly be a chiclet style like the ones found on Sony or Asus laptops for example. It's more like the regular keyboard without the bevels on the buttons. Plus for $50 more, I say no way. I have a feeling that the keyboards from new models like the GT660 will work on the GX640, and those are truly chiclet keyboards. Of course I can't confirm this but I just have a feeling that they will be interchangeable.

and this is the original one

which i guess they keep if you get the ckicklet upgrade, yeah i think ill pass on this, i can always buy the chicklet one for the same price and upgrade myself ( is it hard to change laptop keyboards? ) and still have the original one if i wanna change

Wow, when did MSI start making those chiclet type keyboards?

    Are they backlit!?

I've seen them as low as $40 online. It's a pretty neat upgrade if you ask me, even though it's not a proper chiclet keyboard. It's kind of a weird cross between a classic style and a Vaio/Envy keyboard. Cool nonetheless.

This is just an add on to this thread instead of making my own, but where are these in stock now? I was going to order from RK on friday, they had 1 in stock, but I got preoccupied and left for vacation. I came back today to order and I see that they have 20 in stock..for preorder. :(

Is this in stock anywhere? ETA Mid july means nothing to me, I know how ETAs can change.

They've been OOS everywhere for at least a month. Closest ETA is mid-July, unless you manage to contact an MSI distributor directly, like I did.

I found the older model at Frostycomputers, but that's just a shady sounding place, imo. I'd like to order it from some place I'd have ease in communicating with in case of a warranty claim also. I'd like to go from Xoticpc or RK, but they are still pre-order.
