Or will I need a cooler of some sort (any recommendations?)

I just purchased this laptop tonight (b/c I can't wait for the GX660). The 740 has great specs, I just dislike the speaker location b/c it will fill up with dog hair (in the little speaker cover holes - can you even remove it to clean occasionally?).

Anyways, let me know, since I game on the couch/bed only. If it's too serious, I'll swap to something else :p

PS: Was going to get the 640, but I went to Staples Business Depot today to examine the 15.4" laptops (holding them, placing on my lap, etc) and I can't see myself returning to 15.4" after my last laptop was 17.3" ...17.3" is the 'perfect size", especially since my primary usage will be music production software, which equals to less dragging/scrolling.

Gaming on the couch/bed only? Hmm, there are more comfortable ways, but to each is own.

Anyway, on bare legs/high shorts, it won't reach burning temperatures, but you'll definitely feel it. If there's any layer at all between your legs and the chassis, don't worry about it. Although not as intensive as gaming, a couple hours of movie watching was fine for me.

Sounds good. I just didn't want to have to put a bed sheet between the laptop and my legs like I did for my HP Pavillion two years ago. I still have a red perma-spot with leg hair that no longer grows, so that's why I'm a BIG worrier when it comes to laptop heat.

But yeah, I always have pants or long shorts on, so I guess I should be good. Too bad all laptop manufacturers just don't copy the G73's vent system ...that's the best system I've ever seen.
