Is it just me or does the hinge that the monitor swivels around seem really small and fragile?
My old laptop had a pretty long hinge, almost triple the length of the hinge on my E7405.

Just wondering if it will begin to feel loose sooner or have any other side effects.

No, they will not. My MS-1727 (or GX740) is my second MSI laptop based on the same chassis (first was MS-1722, or GX720). I have used my first laptop for over 2 years, hinges are as good today as they were on the day of purchase.
