Wheres the gsync on the new Msi RTX laptops, was considering the GT75 2080 but no gsync?

They do have G-Sync, but not all of the models got it.Vistar Shook likes this. -

It would make no sense for the GT75 to not have g sync. Most likely they just didn't mention it on the product page, like in the past. -
I think all new laptop panels that support VESA Adaptive Sync will work given the recent announcement from Nvidia that they are going to offer G-sync compatible support for VESA Adaptive Sync.
With updated Nvidia drivers for Pascal / Turing (Volta?) it may not be a problem so much as a semantics issue - G-sync will be available on all VESA Adaptive Sync supporting displays. Time will tell.

I would be surprised if the GE75 has gsync since the model before (GE73) had the optimus solution for better battery life instead of g sync. -
Good to know, honestly I’m not sure if I even need G-Sync? Just realized the ROG Hero ii I had before didn’t have G-Sync and I did ‘t really notice haha. Might just go with the GT75 but I really wish it had an option for the i7-8750h / 2080, the i9 doesn’t seem like a big improvement just more heat. Also that would drop it to one power brick which would be nice.Vistar Shook likes this.

Intel has also promised to support VESA Adaptive Sync, so you're covered there too.
Another reason Nvidia broke down and supported the VESA Adaptive Sync Standard, they were the odd man out.
Given AMD makes the Sony / Xbox CPU / GPU / APU's and support Freesync / VESA Adaptive Sync, Nvidia was starting to look bad.
Starting?
Unknown how the Optimus Intel / dgpu thing will work out, will pass through VESA Adaptive Sync work right?...Vistar Shook likes this. -
Honestly I don’t think missing gsync is a big deal anymore at high frames, like I said above I had the rog hero ii and didn’t even realize I didnt have gsync lol. The GE75 2080 is looking really good to me...has the i7 (dont want the i9, increased thermals + performance isn’t much better) and the full 2080, 144hz with slim bezels and one power brick. It hits all my requirements. Still lots of time to think it over but will be ordering something with a 2080 on the 29th haha. Wonder how the cooling is on the GE75, will definately get liquid metal+fujipoly pads from HID.Last edited: Jan 8, 2019Vistar Shook, hmscott and Kevin@GenTechPC like this.

Sure, but I think he was referring to G sync support or not on the laptop screen, not on the external displays. Either way, the news that Nvidia drivers will support monitors with VESA adaptive-sync is great news.hmscott likes this. -

Yup, the standard specs are good enough to have without the extra concerns. Can't wait to abuse these beasts!Vistar Shook and hmscott like this. -
Yeah, I was talking about the internal screen - laptop display.
Not just Nvidia, Intel, and of course - AMD are supporting VESA Adaptive Sync => FreeSync.

Same, think I will go with this over the GT75 and the Zephyrus S GX701. Zephyrus looks nice but my bad experience with the Hero ii has me turned off + maxq and $600 more.Kevin@GenTechPC and hmscott like this.

If all the newer laptop screens support VESA adaptive-sync then even better, but for some reason I do not think it will be like this right away, where pretty much any laptop can enable G-sync indepedent of being marketed as such or includes the use of the iGPU with optimus currently.hmscott likes this. -
That's actually the very idea of supporting VESA Adaptive Sync, so Nvidia can support non-G-sync displays with Adaptive Sync... although in the Nvidia Control Panel it'll say some form of "G-sync" instead of FreeSync or VESA Adaptive Sync.
IDK what the ratio of laptop displays are that support VESA Adaptive Sync though, so, YMMV?
If everyone gets on board VESA Adaptive Sync I would imagine more display manufacturers would be motivated to include it, and the price would go down (if it's even an issue now).
Fun stuff, standards and stuff.

So hopefully in the future, all notebooks will support adaptive sync, even with the intel iGPU and Nvidia dGPU combo. Not there yet.

It’s a shame that the new GS65/GS75 do not have GSync.
I was hoping with the new GPU’s they would. -
Yea, optimus needs to be trashed. Who buys a gaming laptop looking for battery life.hmscott and Kevin@GenTechPC like this.

Well many want one machine for productivity and gaming, so yes battery life can be important. I mean who buys these super thin & light models only for gaming?

Why not have both?
How hard is it to add a Mux Switch and it can’t cost too much money, couple of bucks I’m guessing.Kevin@GenTechPC and Vistar Shook like this. -

Asus managed to implement both in the Zephyrus M so hopefully the others manufacturers will do the same.Last edited: Jan 10, 2019IKAS V, Kevin@GenTechPC and Vasudev like this. -

Indeed there are many, the same way many need better battery life. I enjoy my SC17 for gaming and I like G sync, but 2 hours or so of battery life is pathetic. If there was a mux switch or the Asus implementatiom of optimus+gync, I would get double that and would be even happier with the machine.Kevin@GenTechPC and Vasudev like this.
Gsync?
