I need to know if I can Game with this thing by using an inverter and my trucks cigarette outlet. The max continuous power available would only be 100watts, I’m going to guess that’s not enough but I’m not great at this stuff so I’ll ask you guys.

You will only be able to use that to charge the system, but you won't be able to do any gaming.hmscott likes this. -
As others have already mentioned, 100W is not enough to use it for gaming, just for general usage. Power draw of the system, when out of the box, can be near 300w for demanding games etc.
So don't play games on the inverted with a 100w limit, otherwise you risk of tripping the inverter or downright damage it.Kevin@GenTechPC and hmscott like this. -

A GTX 1070 TDP modded to 185W can easily draw 315W from the wall at full GPU load plus moderate CPU load. And that's still below the stock TDP of a 1080. So yeah. Fried happyface microwave gif anyone?

You can plan for about 200w-280w use when heavy gaming / charging. If you want a more exact number for your use get a Killa-watt unit and test your usage, many libraries have them to check out, and they are cheap on Amazon.
For heavy use, powering devices like gaming laptops, powering telescopes, lights, etc I've run a heavy duty dedicated cable with an inline fuse from the battery through the firewall.
I'd have it professionally done at your truck / SUV dealer or even better an RV trailer service department that does this all the time and stocks the cabling and fittings.
Ask them to fit it out with as thick of cable (6awg or 10awg) as they can run through the firewall access and ask about end point fan out's on your dash or under dash. You might want more than one place to plug things in.
They can also fit a high capacity inverter in and under the dash or seating, and provide distributed AC plug points if that's something you plan to use a lot.
If your truck had an option for an AC plug point, you might check if it was dealer installable and you can have that package installed if it has enough capacity.Last edited: Nov 15, 2017Kevin@GenTechPC likes this.
How much power draw from a MSI Titan 75VR with a 1080?
