I have a MSI GT735 laptop and am having issues installing the latest ati drivers for the HD3850 card. I know Mobility Modder was required at one time but they don't support that any longer. The latest Modder doesn't seem to make any changes to the Catalyst 10.11 drivers. Any suggestions?

The stock Mobility 10.11 drivers should install just fine on an HD 3xxx GPU. You sure you downloaded the Mobility drivers rather than the desktop ones?

This was a brand new Win 7 install.

    I did the following:
    1. Install Win 7
    2. Run Windows update (don't select the ATI driver if it shows up)
    3. Install ATI Drivers you downloaded.
Well, it never worked for me. I kept getting cab errors or CCC would simply crash. So I uninstalled the drivers and manually removed references from the Registry. Tried again...no go. Fed up with this, I used the 10.8 drivers.

My rig is the MSI Whitebook--> http://www.msiwhitebook.com/product_spec.asp?model=MS-1656-ID1

It is same as the GX640 and comes with an HD5850
