Just got msi gt60-2oc need help!

Hi I just got my laptop right now and I can't seem to get they keyboard to light up! If someone can help me out that would be great! thanks!

 

I'm in the same situation. Just bought my GT60 2OC 003US. It's as if there's no backlight at all, lol.

 

Do you have MSI Keyboard LED manager up and running? It's on your task tray. Double click it to configure the mode.

 

Yeah, it's running. Changing colours/modes and turning the light on and off doesn't do anything. Neither does the touch button above the keyboard.

 

Ditto! I reinstalled KLM as well still not working

 

Maybe need to RMA, just customer service a call.

ZZZZz does anyone have any other solutions? I would hate to send my laptop back . Would it be possible if MSI would just send me a replacement keyboard instead or something.

I was installing my ssd when i noticed a ribbon cable that wasnt attatched so i plugged it back in and now it works! Check if a ribbon cable is disconnected!

 

Where's this cable located?! Am I required to remove the backplate or the keyboard? (I'm guessing the back since you said you were installing an ssd, lol)

 

Mine was right next to where the extra hdd slot is (where you put the ssd) . it should be really noticeable I can't believe I didn't see it before! lol heres a pic.


Hopefully your's is just detached too so hope this works for you!

edit: oh and don't worry about the void warranty sticker I read somewhere its just like a warning and msi doesn't actually void your warranty unless you actually break something or something like that. Because there is a screw under the sticker.

 

You did a great job! Did you guys order the machine with anything special like IC diamond repaste? It would be odd to have the connector loose.

YEP! That was exactly it. Opening up the back was a bit more annoying than I thought it would be, but it wooooorks! Thanks a lot man, enjoy your GT60!

 

You know, everyone is talking about this sticker and the warranty issue. Like garygoesmeow says "msi doesn't actually void your warranty unless you actually break something". Why will you need the warranty unless something breaks down?! And this could be a big reason for MSI to first blame you* (anybody) for something that got damaged / fried / 'broken'.

Really speaking, I have never had any dealings with their customer / support team and I hope I never have to do that . Anyway, maybe they have a good team and they work things out for everyone when their machine runs into problems without making to much of a fuss.

Maybe Ken can clear this doubt or anyone with more experience dealing with MSI. It is a plus point and I am sure that many customers main concern is this, especially when they have no clue about fixing stuff when damages occur.

 

one more question! When you guys push FN - or FN + (the keyboard RBG saturation levels). What's supposed to happen? I notice for all the FN functions something shows up on the screen but not when i push fn + or fn -. They keyboard also doesn't seem to change. hmmm.

 

It seems to change how dark or bright the colours are on the keyboard. But it doesn't seem to do anything with the KLM program open.
