    Hello,

I just received my GS60 ghost pro without any OS. Installed Win 8.1, drivers available in the hard drive, anti virus... and slowly but surely started having more and more BSOD (several types of error codes). At the same time, the laptop started having issues to reboot: looks like it's powering up during 1 second, then turning off, then trying to turn on 2 seconds after, turning off, etc... On the first tries it was able to boot onto the Win 8.1 from time to time (to have some more BSOD), now it's over, it can do that for minutes so I am not even trying anymore.

So I started looking on the internet for possible solutions, and my guess is that I have 2 different issues, I'd like to have some input about the community as I am quite new to MSI hardware:

Issue #1-The regular BSOD may come from the Killer Lan drivers. It looks like they have a some bad reputation, and I believe I started having BSOD as soon as I installed them. I'd like to format/install a new fresh Win 8.1 and not install this drivers anymore, unfortunately I cannot because of issue #2. Anyway, can anybody advice? If you believe the issue is coming from these drivers, is there any proper way to delete them and install better ones? which ones then?

Issue #2-Unfortunately for this one I believe I cannot do anything but sending the laptop back to MSI. My guess is that the laptop is not even able to reach the BIOS when booting. I'd like to clear the CMOS but I would need to open the laptop, which would end the warranty... Does anyone believe there is a possible workaround here?

    Hope someone can help...

Sorry for my poor english, that's not my native language.

Do you have a Raid setup or is windows on a single SSD or Hard drive.

Take the drives out of the notebook and see if you can enter the bios with no drives attached?

Try this linked version 1.1.52.1438 driver instead of the normal Killer Performance Suite. It doesn't contain any additional software, only the drivers for the Killer E2200 lan and Killer Wireless cards.

Start tapping the Del key as soon as you press the power button to enter the bios.

Also when you do clean installs :
Installation Media created from untouched Windows 8.1 ISO
    Check Bios version/setting Date/Time ,Raid/AHCI/Raid , UEFI/Legacy etc

Windows contains these but update anyway
    Install latest Microsoft netFramework

    Install Intel Chipset Software

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

No specific setup, I installed windows directly on the single SSD. Taking the drives out of the laptop would require to open the laptop, I am afraid this would end the warranty :S

Unfortunately I tried to tap the Del or any other F key and nothing is working. I am not even sure the swstem is able to reachthe BIOS check, nothing has the time to appear on the screen, not even the MSI logo.

I am afraid this will go to RMA... after two days :( Is this process usuall long? I am living in Switzerland and it looks like it's going through a local retailer..

Since you got the computer without an OS preinstalled I assume you got a semi barebones? I would contact your original seller to see if opening up the bottom will indeed void the warranty. With MSI branded notebooks, doing so does not void it, just be careful as any damage caused will not be covered. This is the case in the U.S anyway, it may not be the same in Switzerland, again something your reseller could let you know for sure.

If you are not able to get into the BIOS what you can try is turning the computer on normally, then reboot instead of shut down. As soon as it shuts down to restart then start spamming F2 and Delete and you should be able to get into the BIOS.

Find the serial number on the back of your unit and provide it here for us to help you better since there's retail boxed version and OEM/barebone version.
