Kinda been browsing laptops in the 15-16 inch range and stumbled upon this one.

I would like to buy in the next month. Is this still the laptop to get? I was also browsing Asus and Toshiba laptops but the MSI GX640 seems like the best bang for the buck.

Any other suggestions? Is this model outdated? Is a newer model just around the corner?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

nop, for a grand u wont find anything near this kind of performance range. With the gx640 just watch out for ur temperatures. Thats the only problem i had with this laptop but after some mods and a laptop cooler, i can easily say that it has been the best laptop ive ever bought.

    is this thing loud?

My only concern is that i don't want to sound like i'm starting a jet engine in the middle of class when i whip this out.

At idle no. If you play games on it it gets noticeable.

But hooray for jet engine fan sounds, since I will never take mine to class to game anyway :) Just imagine 50C in FurMark with a huge fan at 5000RPM *drool*
