I've been having this problem for a couple weeks now... and it's inconsistent but extremely annoying.

When I pick up and move my laptop somewhere else (i.e. not a table), it invariably freezes at some point (usually after a couple minutes of using it). I don't know why it's happening... can anyone offer ideas?

    Thanks!

Maybe take it apart and re-seat everything.

    What GPU do you have?

not a bad idea, might try that when i have some time this week.

i've got a GTS 160m in there. my other random thought was that the battery might be involved... but there have been no indications to that.

Yeah, reseat your cpu, gpu, hdd and ram. A piece of hardware could be on loose and losing connection when you move the computer around.

Hmm strange indeed, give a check of your temps but it sounds really strange o_O

Prehaps the HDD itself has something loose/stiff inside of it.

Well I followed the general advice of re-seating stuff... and I only had to do the RAM and the HDD before it seemed to fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Hopefully I won't have to resurrect this thread later :)

Mine does this, except I have to reseat the graphics card to get it to work.

If you're getting a bsod, reseat your ram.

I doubt its the ram, cpu or gpu that causes the bsod, because all of those components are locked or screwed into place. Its most likely the hdd, and well it does say right on it not to move it while its in use XD. Although most hdd are just fine with being moved, its probably a sign that yours is defective.

I would say that ram is possible. I have had my ram come unseated before.
It's not really locked as much as a CPU, GPU or HDD.

usually when you get a bsod well when i did it would normally point the problem on the ram. at least thats my problem.

i have had this problem for a while and figured out what it was just last week. When you move your laptop with your left hand on the left front side of the open laptop, what do you feel? what are you flexing? you guessed it, hard drive. Once i stopped moving my lap from that spot it hasnt happened since. good luck.
