    Greetings,

I just bought an MSI barebone, model 176262-033 with GTX680M. I installed all necessary components, but when I tried turning it on for the first time, it wouldn't power on. Speakers and touchpad blinked once in blue then nothing else. Battery indicator is always solid green when plugged in (with battery in presence). Googling around and I found this solution, but I tried it to no avail:

    -remove battery and unplug
-press start button for 30 secs
    -put everything back again

It's a shame that this system is brand new. I could send it back in for repair but RMA would take forever. My question is: Is there any other way I could fix it myself, or is it truly defective and I have to send it back? If you have experienced this problem on this particular model or with another laptop, I'd really appreciate all kinds of advice. Thanks.

So the system refuses to start with just the battery or just the power adapter?

Either way - just battery, just power adapter, or with both plugged in

Sounds like DOA to me (dead on arrival) and it needs to be returned. This is usually treated as the most serious case and replacements done asap so check with your seller.

That's ok, sometimes the stresses of transport can show a weak connection that stationary stress testing might miss, hopefully things go smoother with your next machine.

Most likely the board. Meaker is right about the transit stress as well. I don't know who does reflow work and who just replaces the board altogether, but either way, they should document the problem before sending it back to you, so if they don't outright tell you what was wrong, you can always inquire if you're curious.

    Good luck!
