lol maybe he will end the listing thinking "your on to him". As it stands I do not know what is "normal" price for the gs40 now. it was around £1300 now bit lower. but if I was paying close to that. id just go all out and get a gs43 for a bit more. convince your self your getting about amd 470 performance.

LOL, the listing was ended. no surprises there.
In regards to the amd 470 performances. the 1060 in the gs43 is about on par with that. its a little bit below the desktop version of 1060 and that's the closest and newest gpu that is that close. its gains about 50% performance gain over the 970m surpassing the 980m in the same form.
anyway what is the cost of the gs40? the best price Ive seen the gs43 at is £1433 on savelaptop. (uk site) so it would have to be selling at around £1000 then?
anyway you can check out the gs43 on the gs43 owners lounge. its very tempting machine and trust me I was interested in the gs40.

Yea it's around 1000 pounds. I really dont wanna pay more than that. And for that money gs40 looks like the best option.

Amazon warehouse deals has the GS40 used like new for $827. For this price, it seems like a good deal. It may not have a warranty though. Any major issues with this laptop that would be concerning without a warranty?

It's a good price but I would pay the extra money for the warranty. Not especially for this one, but for any kind of expensive electronic items.

And about the GS40; I've used it for couple of days and I gotta say it's much better than I expected.

Regarding your question I must say it feels quite fragile. You feel the need to be gentle even when you open the lid or carry it around. I mean it feels like even a 2 year old kid can easily break it into two pieces. But that's the price you pay for the thin and small build and i'm totally fine with it.

Another thing is that really hard to update the drivers or check if everything's up to date. I know it needs a bit investigation I guess. But a software that can tell you that if you should update anything would be good.

    Ok Guys plese tell me..
Is worth to change gs40 to gs43vr?
It's really much better from gs40?
I have to pay extra over 350€ (sell my gs40 with ssd m.2 256Gb samsung and 16Gb ddr4 kingston HyperX cl13 for 1200€ and buy gs43vr for 1550€
If i change now to gs43vr will gtx 1060 be fine for next 2 years?

    15,6 inch laptop don't want. 14" it's ok
Sorry, but i've got dillema stay to my gs40 or upgrade to gs43vr.

And second question.. take standard ram ddr4 (16Gb cl15) or swap from my gs40 to gs43vr (i've got kingston HyperX 16Gb cl13)

In home I play on lcd 1920x1080.
I've bought mafia iii and in resolution 1920x1080 on medium setting got only 24-35 fps its terrible my 970m its oc to 1338MHz on core and 2855MHz on memory - stable so it's run like 980m. What's witch 1060?

I don't have a GS40, but I do have a GS43VR, and I'm pleased with it. It's a nice performance boost - the GTX 1060 mobile surpasses the 980M and comes close to desktop 980 performance, so you'll get better performance while running cooler. I don't play Mafia III, but I have played crushing AAA titles like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on 1080p with most settings on ultra (though with a few settings turned off completely), and I've gotten respectable FPS around 60. I don't see any reason why the GS43VR wouldn't last at least two years (personally I'm planning to wait 4ish years to upgrade). The GS40 still has great value though, so it's a question of whether you want to go through the hassle of selling it so you can have the latest and greatest.

Keep the GS40, it's good enough. Wait for the next gen of gpus before switching (Volta at least)

    Hi chaps,

I was playing Fallout 4 yesterday with graphics settings set to high and literally after 15 mins it was burning hot in the bottom. I had it for 1 weeks now and read great things about the temperature.

Is there some kind of setting that I should change or is that normal.

PS it was on my lap when I was playing

What is your ambient temperature? When sitting on your laps, were you blocking some of the cooling vents? Do you hear the fans working? Your body temperature may not help.

Excuse my ignorance but I don't know how to check the temperature, I think since the vents are located under the machine; it's not very smart to use it on your lap when gaming.

Cause when it's on the desk you don,t feel it. Keyboard area doesn't get really warm, aaal in the bottom

    When I playing Mafia III
    1600x900 low-medium settings i've got from 33 to 50FPS
CPU temp: 87C and on GPU 92C o_O
When Laptop is on table. Temps are so high :(
When I try overclock GPU FPS are lower.. I don't know why. In other games i see improvment even 30FPS (when OC to 1350MHz on core and 2900MHz on memory, i put something under laptop and I've got stable 93-94C on GPU. If I don't put something under laptop After temp rise 95-96C GPU is throttling down. CPU over 85-90C

Returning to my question about going from gs40 to gs43vr - OK I understand that 40% upgrade it's not worth the extra pay.
But what do you thing about GT62VR with GTX 1070? - It's worth upgrade from gs40 If I add extra 700 euro will it be worth?
Is here anybody who have got GT62VR?
It's futherproof this upgrade? What is thermal differences, it's much better than GS40 temperatures?

Sorry for my English but I've lern it only 2 years :(

Your GS40 should not be running so hot or have such low FPS. You might want to contact MSI support and send it in for warranty repairs if you can. If you can't do that, then an upgrade to a GS43VR would be a good deal for you. I have a GS43VR, and I can play new games at 1080p on mostly the highest settings and get 60+ FPS with CPU temps in the 60s and GPU temps in the 70s. I don't know much about the GT62, but it also will run better than your overheating GS40. Definitely get it repaired/replaced under warranty if you can, because it shouldn't be getting that hot.

    Hi guys.
I've got GS40 6QD and i'm very proud of this machine.
Unfortenly in Mafia III on 1600x900 on low i've got 35-45FPS it's time for change.

After clean it up inside and update bios and drivers temps go down CPU: max75C GPU: max69C

I'm thinking about buying GS43VR and razer core I'm thinking it should be enought to half next year.
Then i will buy new generation descop card and connetct with razer core this with 6700hq and 32gb dd4 should be enought for next 2 years what do You thinking?

Or i can buy GT62VR with 1070 but for how long it fill be fine in fhd (1080p)? For year or two?
More futer is in gs43vr + blast core
I've must change my gs40 its already sold.
14 inch is the best for me.. this mobility is great.
I can buy a 15 inch laptop but.. GT62VR don't have tb3. So i see less future in him.

    I stay in gs40.
I've bought razer core and waiting for it.
Now i've got question. If I disable dgpu in windows device manager will i totally disable dgpu?
Will it improve working time on battery?
Is other metod to disable dgpu?

Hello there guys . Long story short , i spilled some coffee on the keyboard of my MSI gs40, not a lot , maybe like one spoon's worth Turned the laptop upside down , turned it off immediately , unplugged the AC . Let it like this for some hours , turned it back on . The laptop works , no problem other than the fact that the keyboard doesnt work anymore ... None of the keys seem to work allthough the coffee was spilled on th center right area .... Like i said , it wasnt much coffee ... I dont know what to do now . I have no warranty since i bought it from a guy , online , that got it as a present and didnt have any documenta to it ... I ve searched on ebay for msi gs 40 keyboard and i ve found some @ around 100usd with warranty . The touch pad works without any problems .
Question : if i buy that keyboard could i replace it without having to also replace the touch pad . I ve searched infos about msi gs 40 keyboard replacement but there aren't any ... Any advice would help me a lot . Im from Romania currently travelling in Vietnam and this laptop is my life !!! Thank you .

There are GS40 keyboards for sale on eBay and they aren't attached to the palm rest. Either it's not riveted or they expect you to break the rivets and replace it that way. Either way, that seems like the cheapest way to fix it.

But to break the rivets its pretty risky. The keyboard wont be as new, it will affect the whole feel of the laptop...I found keyboard + frame @ 240 usd...Its so hard to find infos about this problem on the internet...Nobody replaced their keyboard on this specific model..
