The laptop that was never named or the specs listed. We will never know until it is announced. But I'm seriously looking forward for this laptop. Anyone planning to get this?
MSI to Launch 15.6-inch Thin and Light Gaming Laptop - IGN

If they do this, I will most likely go for it.

It caught my attention as soon as I saw it on some CES article. It looks to be a 15" version of the GS70. It's reported to be just slightly over 3 pounds which is damn amazing if true. If the battery life is at least up to 8 hours, this could be the best thin gaming laptop.
I doubt this laptop will be released soon. Hopefully, MSI will release it soon. Otherwise, their competitors might sooner capitalize on this market. Razer just needs to upgrade the display on their Razer Blade 14" and Gigabye just needs to upgrade the battery life on the P34G. -
It looks really gorgeous: First look: MSI 15.6-inch thin and light gaming laptop prototype | News | TechRadar
My mouth is already watering haha - hopefully they settle a big enough battery in this.UltraGSM likes this. -
that is a beauty, the slimness of it and if it will be metal chassis, long battery life, well... many will be tempted with great ultra-portable laptop
judging the price will be set right

The GS70 is a nice unit, so I imagine that as long as MSI keeps true to similar build quality and design (and then some, hopefully) with this, we'll be seeing a very snazzy and viable alternative from them.

That does look nice. As long as they can put a decent GPU and keep it cool it will be a popular model I bet.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
off centered kb with a botched numpad
otherwise this notebook with the same internals as the gs70 should be great -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would expect a very similar experience to the gs70.
-
Ugh, I wish they would remove the words "Gaming G Series" on that logo. I'm fine with the MSi logo and the picture of the dragon but...argh, it just feels childish using a laptop that says Gaming Series on it.
Everything else on it looks perfect. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
They have a thing for naming things that way :/
-
This looks great, love these new thinner and lighter gaming laptops, now if they only work as good as they look MSI has aanother winner.
-
I was seriously considering picking up a GS70 now that I'm done with school and hopefully to start a "grown up" job lol. But, I would prefer a 15" version and if it's as good as the GS70 this might be the way to go for more portability. I really do like the 14" Razer blade, but I don't like the price for the specs. Although most people seem to be overwhelmingly positive about the Blade. Just have to wait and see.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If portability matters i would wait for the 15 inch.
-

Both are designed to be pretty portable. If portability really matters, get an ultrabook or a tablet.

Not if gaming performance matters.

It's coming ! ITP 2014 : MSI GS60, une machine Gaming en 15.4'' avec... - Salons - CowcotLand
And this will be my next system! -
15.4" screen means the shower ratio might be 16:10 right?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would assume that's a typo.
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Have you looked into GE40? However, this chassis runs slightly hotter due to compact chassis. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
We haven't seen 16:10 notebook screens in over to 3+yrs. I wish they would make them though, I use that ratio on my desktop monitors and do prefer it over the 16:9 I use for work monitors. -
Could be. Kinda hope not though.
I would prefer it as well. -
I did look at it initially, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of the 17.3" screen. I have dual 24" monitors at home and going now to my 15.6" laptop can be a bit of a strain sometimes. With all the reports of a new smaller Stealth being released, I might try to get this year's Stealth on sale if they drop the price, or wait until the new systems come out in a few months and do my deciding then.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this.

A lot of gamers like the 17" idea since it's so thin and carries enough horsepower to do what you need to do.
Or 16" may serve you just fine if you minded the extra inch but there aren't many 16" models out there. -
When can we expect this? Or an updated GS70 with newer 800 series GPU?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I've not seen the dates personally but not too long after the 800 series launch would be my guess.

Cool and here it says 15.6in so last article about 15.5in was typo.

Hopefully it is no later than April. Right now I'm looking at both this one and the Y50
palmtop_taiga likes this. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Y50 is ok but a good 770m/780m machine will always be far better at gaming.
-
Perhaps I'm misreading your post but my guess is the Y50 and GS60 will have comparable GPUs and neither of which will be a 770m or 780m.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You know I must have thought I was in a different thread, but regardless the 765M or the new 860M is a better choice over the 750 or 750sli.
-
The Y50 will have an option for 860M no one knows what the GS60 has but your probably right at guessing it will probably be the same. Those laptops will have an 800M series and not "last" gen GPU's.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Oh I was thinking of the 750 sli model, i'm not too up on my lenovo machines.
-
I'd be willing to hold out til Late March-Mid April, do you guys think it will be released by then?
-
Even 800 series GPU is not out yet, rumors April, could be a couple more months to have laptops with them on the market.
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
They are coming soon, looking at late March/early April. -
The GFX cards are released then or will they be available to consumers then?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Not sure, but here's what I found.

Lot's of lovely options on this machine, I think it's going to be quite popular as a premium portable gaming device.

I wish I could rename this thread to the official GS60 Ghost thread. Would be easier in the future.
