I bought an MSI GT70 yesterday. When I first plugged it in the battery was at 78% and won't go up although it said "plugged in, charging". I thought it was weird after a couple of hours so I unplugged it and waited for it to dropped to 20% then plugged it in again. Now it's still 20% after several hours and still says "20%, plugged in, charging". What seems to be the cause of such problem?

I advise you to take it back to change your machine, sounds like a hardware issue preventing charging, or the system is unable to properly determine when it is fully charged.

I have used several MSI laptops and all have charged without issues, so if you have this upfront, it might be worthwhile to report it to your vendor/reseller and/or MSI for exchange of your unit or repairs.

The sooner the better, don't try to force the power jack more than it should to avoid damaging your notebook yourself.

In both of your cases, does the computer die off when you unplug? It does sound like a bad battery. I have only ever seen such case once on an older Asus G71

If they are brand new,not used, notebooks contact the authorized MSI reseller where you purchased them from about an exchange.

If you run into returning problems with the place of purchase contact MSI for an RMA.

A receipt is not necessary with MSI.They scan the bar code to get the notebooks history.
