Hi,
My GT70 powers on and immediately tuns off and on again in a loop. It does the exact same thing as in this . Apparently the guy changed the bios chip and that fixed it. I'm a computer tech but I've never replaced a bios chip. Is it something simple to do? Do I need any special tools?
If it's too complicated maybe I can replace the whole motherboard.
Do you guys know of a place I can get a motherboard for this model that won't be too expensive?
Thank you.

Do you have access to the BIOS? Via software I mean. It seems not by the video...

Have you tried removing the battery, unplugging the power supply and holding down the power button for 30 seconds?

Hi slekkas, I have forwarded your issue over to our tech support team and will hopefully have a solution for you to try (other than sending it in for repair).

Falkentyne Notebook Prophet
The newer MSI laptops are more robust when dealing with Bios errors. Hopefully @MSI_Darutohne will get you sorted out. I can't take a guess, but if that's not a corrupted bios, I'd even guess there was a RAM error or CPU or EC initialization error, but I'm just spamming hearsay so all I'll say is good luck.
And don't try to get a replacement motherboard. That laptop is far too old now if it can't be fixed with MSI's help. You're much better off getting something newer if it's a total loss. Don't sink money into years old hardware. -
So here's the information provided to me by our tech support.
"Power cycling is generally caused by a faulty motherboard. To replace the BIOS chip, you will need to be able to solder it. If not, there's not much can be done."
I wish I had another solution for you, but repairing the BIOS chip would take some special equipment, and I'm not sure how likely it would be for you to find a replacement motherboard that's in good working condition. Unfortunately since this product is EOL, our tech support team wouldn't be able to repair it. The easiest and best solution might be to invest in a newer laptop, as @Falkentyne stated above. -
