    Hi,

i have an new GT70 Dominator Pro 2PE Notebook with the new nVidia 880m. I removed the SSD which came from the Factory and replaced it with 3 Samsung 840 EVOs in Raid 0 and Multiboot - thats why i decided to set Windows 8.1 completly new up. Everything works fine, all Drivers seem correct, but i cant get the Quicklaunch-Keys to work.

I reinstalled Radio-Switch, SCM and even the Dragon Gaming Center, but i cant find any Option to configure these Buttons - nor wont they work at all. So i am not able to start the Cooler-Boost for example.

Where do you usually configure these Buttons on a GT70, in which Application? Or is there a workaround to assign specific Keys or Actions direct in the Registry?

    Pls help me :)

Simply press the G key then SCM will come up, and you should be able to define the application you want to use with that particular hot key for launching a program.

Sorry, but all Quicklaunch-Buttons dont work.

I can open the SCM from the Startmennue, but i see only Settings for WIFI or Bluetooth, Camera on/off or Eject for the DVD-Drive- but no Possibility to define any keys.

    Could you provide a Screenshot?

I had the same thing and I upgraded the firmware. If you do to the download section of our notebook there's different sections like drivers, utilities and there's a firmware one.

Download the one and run the bat file and you are done. There's also instructions on above the download place but read carefully because for our version there's two folders so you have to run the bat file.

OK. It is not a Software or Driver related Problem. Weather the Quicklaunch-Bar has a Hardware-Failure or it wont work anymore because I did this Firmware-Update for the Keyboard.

I will have to contact msi for support, and hope that it can be solved by "downgrading" the Keyboard-Firmware as i dont want to send the Notebook in for repairs...

All in all, im quite a bit disapointed by the Product Quality of msi. I had severals Notebooks from Alienware and Acer and used Dell or Fuijitsu for Business and never had any Issues...

When you updated the EC firmware, did you also update the SteelSeries Engine software?

    Hi Kevin,

all Drivers and Utilitys are the latest from the msi-Website.

I also set the System back to Factory-settings with an Acronis True Image i created before first time booting the System, and the Failure still was there.

I think it is a Hardware problem with this Quicklaunch bar and got a RMA now.

Im curious what msi will do now.

Is there any chance during disassembly and reassembly you could have bumped a cable that goes to quick launch bar? It might be worth a quick check.

Try what dajohu has suggested, open it and check again.
But if it still cannot be resolved then go ahead and send it back to MSI.

I will add that I just did the same thing this weekend, removed the single 128GB drive and installed 3x 1TB EVO's using all of the drivers and utilities from the MSI download site.

While it worked great I did have difficulties trying to get my stock image back onto my drive as clonezilla can't deal with RAID and only saw the individual drives. I finally gave up and just did a clean install of Win 8.1 and that worked fine.

I did have a single item under device manager that showed a yellow exclamation point, although I did not notice anything not working. By googling the ID from device manager I found out that it was something to the effect of a wireless switch driver (don't have the name handy). I found that driver by another google and that cleared that up.

Do you have anything un device manager with an exclamation point or red x?

    Possibly Airplane mode.
    Use AIDA64 to verify.

    ok. the problem is solved.

msi sent my notebook to poland, and their techicans did a "reflash EC". So the firmware-update for the keyboard seems to have caused the failure.

unfortunately they also left 2 scratches on my notebook also, each 5 mm long.
andit was left full of fat-fingerprints, very lots of them, so that i had to clean my whole laptop with methylated spirits to get rid of them. maybe msi´s polish technicans shouldn eat pizza while repairing my laptop. or at least wear gloves.

but, most of all, it seems like they removed one of my ssd during the repair, as one of the disks was no longer a member of my 3-disks-stripeset. had to reeinstall the whole raid-0 and restore all data on the disks. in my opinion, it was not neccessary to destroy my stripset for this repair.

last, the original packing is damaged now. i sent it in in a new condition and received it back damaged.

all in all: im glad, that the quicklaunch now works, but am kind of disapointed with the repair of "MSI polska SP. z o.o."

at least it was kinda quick, as it took just 6 Days, all together.

Bring it up to them and ask them to take care of the scratched parts.
