    Hello.

Am desperate now, and i hope maybe someone here can give me correct info about my situation.

My Laptop is a MSI GT72 2QE Dominator pro with nvidia 980M.

I bought a Asus swift rogue screen http://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG_SWIFT_PG278Q/.

Am using a cable DP to Mini-DP (since this laptop only have mini dp version 1.2).

Here comes my problem, i can get my screen to 144hz but randomly when i play after 1 hour or less screen goes black for 1 sec then return to either 85hz or the screen get "blurry" effect i have to restart my laptop and the problem is fixed then.

I have call Asus support in sweden and they are saying they don't know if we can help you. (What a joke) My question to them was is there a cable that support your Asus screen från Mini-dp to DP with 144hz and g-sync. They couldn't help me lol.

The monitor ain't the problem here since i tried my monitor (DP to DP) on my brother stationary computor with MSI GTX 680 he had NO problem at all. I even notice when i pressed the turbo button on the asus screen he could change the HZ. But when i use that button my laptop it is "LAGGY" it take like 1 minute to change the HZ from the turbo button.

Am starting to think that mini-dp dont support 144hz external monitors and g-sync can this be the case?

Please help i have 30 days time to refund the monitor, want to see if i can solve this without refunding it.

Well not many people probably have that exact combo.

Not sure if it helps but I have the Asus 248QE 144hz attached to my GT60 via mini DP/DP cable and have never had any issues. 144hz all day.

I would buy a different brand cable and try again.

As talon suggested, it seems to me the cable is at fault here.

Yes I strongly suspect the cable, try and get a high quality cable since you are pushing more data than 4k @ 60hz! It works flawlessly on my notebook with the stock cable (it has a full size DP port).

Thanks so far with the feedbacks, my next questions is what kind of brand quality cable i should buy? (DP to DP mini) that will support 144 hz and g-sync?

Talon: when you Change hz with the turbo Button on the Asus screen do you get lag issue (delay) to Change it?. When i use it i can only go downward to 85 and 60hz but cant Change to 144 or 120 hz after that i have to testar mu laptop to fix it again to 144 hz tru nvidia control panel.
