Can someone confirm the ddr4 2400 the GT73VR427 ships with, I expect mine to arrive next week and would like at add another 2x8 for 32GB total but would like to match the memory to what is already under the keyboard I assume.
Appreciated!!![]()

It probably comes with 2x8GB, so if you want 32GB you need to get 2x16GB. The model Phoenix cited is 16GB, but that is probably on the models shipped with 2x16GB.

The unit ships with 2x8 for 16 total, I don't require more than 32 total so I just need to find the same ram or compatible ram, lets be honest most persons don't need more than 32gb. I had hoped the standard included ram was a CL14 rated ddr4, as Kingston has a DDR4 2400 kit which I was planning to buy with tighter timings but if unit ships with Cl17 I may as well just fin the cheaper match to the same timings rather than paying more -

I don´t have the GT73, so I can´t say for sure, but what I meant was the laptop, I think, has only two ram slots, so to have 32GB you would have to replace the two ram modules with 2 16GB ones, then you can choose which ones you want. Either way, the 16GB that comes with laptop should be enough, and upgrade down the road when you feel you need more, then you can choose faster ram.

The laptop has 4 RAM slots. 2 under the keyboard and 2 under the back panelVistar Shook likes this. -

These laptops have never shipped w 2 ram slots alone, however it would be nice to see access to all dimms located under back panel but space is the issue thus 2 are below the keyboard and a pita to access.Vistar Shook likes this.

Spreading the components also helps reduce the heat. Imagine all RAMs and SSDs on the back along with the CPU and GPU. Its gonna get very hot.

True enough , however there are many running raid 0 w nvme and M.2 loaded as well w SSD or mechanical drive. There is sufficient cooling and i am sure R&D testing was done
More than anything getting to the ram under keyboard is a chore

It is a task as you'll need to remove the motherboard to access the other RAM, which is something I wouldn't recommend unless you've done this before. More over the location of the RAM is more of design chosen by the manufacture and also a way to add your drives on the bottom as you're really limited in the amount of space available on the motherboard, so I would rather be able to access all my drives then all the RAM.Vistar Shook likes this. -
Yep i would agree. With this u it and since it ships w ddr4 2400 it is not as much of a concern vs my previous gt72 2qe which shipped w 1600 and i wanted to bump the speed up to 1866 or 2133, after looking at the work involved i just bought more 1600
