Hi
I kept my laptop open to download a game and when i came back to see the progress found myself on the waiting screen of windows 10. At first i thought they were random restarts related to the windows updates. Then i found some minidump files.
Problem is i never get the bsod when i actively use the laptop. It always happen when i leave it to download or render something.
Below you can find the link of my minidump file.

While I am too lazy to view the file, I had the same laptop... it had this persistent issue with screen timeout (in power settings where the screen shuts off automatically after xx minutes to save power). I never had a single issue using the laptop, but leave it alone long enough for the screen to time out and boom... either it rebooted, or the gpu failed to wake up leading to black screen or artifacts over the whole screen, needing a hard reboot... All kinds of wild things happened to it. Try to disable screen time out and see. Worst case it won't solve your issue ^^

Update the chipset driver and graphics driver, see what happens. -
I updated my chipset to this version: 10.1.18019.8144
However this happened with various versions of GPU driver and i always use the latest ones.
I will let you know if chipset drivers make any difference.Last edited: Oct 4, 2019 -
Still happening. Also i think heliada's solution would work. But i dont to disable screen time out and would like to sort this thing out. If you can give any other solution i would appreciate.

Sadly I tried everything to fix it, including million different drivers. You should try it, see if it stops the problem from occurring and if it does then contact MSI and try to make them understand. I tried, but gave up and sold my laptop due to constant annoyances like this. PC all the way for me now and cheap laptop for at school/work. I gave up. Another thing to do would be to contact nvidia directly as they may be able to help but otherwise, well... good luck?

Actually i'm trying something new. I disabled G-sync and did not get any bsod for 2 days. Seems to be working for now.
heliada likes this. -
Well, still something you should contact msi/nvidia about though
Imho, it's still annoying to have to look for ways to make your laptop work after having spent so much money on it.

Indeed. Also disabling G-sync did not work. Just using it without turning screen of now. I send them a ticket with the minidump files. But did not heard from them yet.
