So I got a new GT75 with a 8950hk. I was wondering if I use 2 NVME drives in the 2 m.2 slots, will my graphics card be restricted to 8x or 4x?

The m.2 slots under the heatspreader will not reduce PCIe lanes to your GPU. Using the two extra ones to the left of the heatspreader will make your GPU run at x8. I'm using all slots and my 2080 running at x8 doesn't make much of a difference in real world usage.
*Edit: The two extra slots that reduce lanes are only on the RTX modelsLast edited: May 7, 2020alaskajoel likes this. -
Did your machine come with those slots populated first? I don't recall them having a heatsink, even though they should logically be filled first imo since a 2080 shouldn't see much loss from an 8x PCIe slot. -
Hi guys. I am new here and I have an MSI Titan 8SF laptop with intel core i7 8th gen. Currently, it has an 500gb SSD (m2 I think), and a 4tb samsung evo (Not sure what type). I am looking to upgrade storage for more games, but am not sure how many M2 slots I have. Does anyone know, or how I can find out? If I open up back of laptop, am not sure what I am supposed to be looking for. Help appreciated
