Well I been wondering about improving the ram of my laptop. But i'm not to sure if it would work. Can I upgrade my laptop to 18gb ram(3x6gb). And btw it has atm 12gb ram (3x4gb). So just wanted to make sure if its possible before I buy ram I wont be using. Thank you, and btw the model is (GT780DXR-447US).

There are no 6GB SO-DIMM RAM modules on the market. Your best bet would be 3x8GB.

It should have a forth ram slot so you could get one more 4gb stick for 16gb's total or you could get 4x8gb's (expensive but should be doable).
Are you running VM's or something else that needs that much ram? If not there is no need to add more ram, more will not make any noticeable difference unless you are already maxing out the 12 you have. -
Oh I did not know that there are only 4 or 8 gb. Thank you for the information. And I have not had the problem of running out off ram atm. But I like to know before It does and know what to do. But thank you for the information. If i ever run out off ram I could just add another 4gb ram. Oh and is it possible to have 2/4gb and 2/8gb rams working on the MSI?

So long as you pair each size of ram in the slots (2+2 under keyboard, 4 + 4 under the bottom panel) it should be fine.
The speed will be set at the slowest modules you put in. -
I have 2x4GB and 2x8GB installed without issue.

1. there is no 6GB per dimm memory available.
2. you can have 4x4GB for 16GB or 2x4GB + 2x8GB for 24GB. However, 8GB is very expensive today.
MSI GT780DXR can it support more than 12 ram?
