MSI annonce le GT80 Titan un PC portable gamer de 18'' avec clavier mécanique - Portable Gamer - CowcotLand
( use google translate to have it in english )
Just few words : what is this oO

What's your thoughts about this ?

Oh dear god, of this badboy is cheaper than 3500 ish dollars Im all over it. Interesting with MX Brown on a laptop too
-
I know it's a desktop replacement, but why no trackpad?
EDIT: oh wait there is... it's the numpad. It doubles as trackpad.
-
Oh my!
Have no idea why they went with that keyboard setup, but it just looks off.
Now all we need is price, weight and size.
It seems like it could be very expensive and if it's starts under $3000( I sound crazy for saying this ) I might be looking at this.
Please let it have a desktop CPU or at least if mobile not soldered on. -
WTH? Isn't the keyboard being all the way at the bottom going to be awkward to use?

Hello DELL M2010's smaller brother

If that is a screen on the right that can be customized , it sounds great hopefully it does have a desktop CPU and a 4K screen

I do not like the look of this machine, it's quite ugly due to the fact they are trying to do too much with it. I don't think the cherry mx switches in a laptop is very practical and it's showing. No palm rest when using the keyboard? Keyboard too close to the body when actually using it "laptop" style?
Yeah... Not appealing to me. -
Woah! That thing is huge! But I like what I see..... Very interesting!
-
Im with you, it is very interesting. I actually welcome back the no palm rest configuration like early laptops in favor of a hopefully very decent keyboard and not this junk most laptops have had for the last 12-14 years.
-
give it 64GB ram ( 4 x 16 modules ) the LG Dreamcolor 2 equivalent screen ( 10 bit aRGB gamut ) and K5100m's that I can use to allocate to separate rendering applications and then I will take 2.

aw come on, is that really all you have to say!
LOL!

Not on a cooling stand, since it's mechanical they are assuming you will not be using an external.
Intel is hardware capped at 8GB dimms. -

Usually purchased slimmer laptops in the past, but this one looks cool, has a sort of Bladerunner retro sci-fi aesthetic going for it. -
Shame about the big garish dragon graphic (though not unexpected). Would be a great spot for a system monitor LCD. Customize to show CPU load, ram commit, temps, FPS, battery life, etc.
-
Welp, I think I'm in, depending on the specs of the screen and other items (non-soldered CPU & GPU, etc). With the seeming impending death of the AW 18, and clevo going the soldered gpu route, if this is under 3k i might get it instead of finally building a desktop.

980m sli and a 1200p/1440p screen would really make it stand out. Putting a 1080p screen would seem such a waste of real estate on it.

I just hope there isn't a big red coat of arms logo on the lid. IMO the "MSI" logo on the bezel here is much nicer than the red "Gaming Series" logo on the lid of the GS60/GS70 for example. Came close to buying the GS70 last year, but in the end decided against it as the logo is a bit too flashy for me to comfortably use the laptop in business meetings with clients. -
