I've god a MSI GX620 with Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, VGA nVIDIA Geforce 9600M Gt.
Recently Ive lost the recovery disk and I dun know how to recovery it without disc. Could anyone upload this disk for me?
By the way, I've used speed fan to check the temperature of my notebook, its 60 Celsius GPU, 50 Celsius 2CPu. Is it alright and which degree is safe for my notebook. Thanks

any advice for me ? =((

Those temps seem abit high if there idle temps. Not sure where to get a recovery disk, Did you try system restore? You might want to clean the fan and maybe re apply thermal paste to bring the temps down..
-
Agreed, for idle temps they are a bit warm, are you using multi monitor, i could understand the GPU being a bit warmer if it were to be rendering twice the amount of pixels.
CPU seems quite safe, but i agree, open her up and give the fan a good cleaning, dust can also get trapped at the entry point of the air output so its worth taking the fan out as well if your up to the job. -
Thanks.
60 Celsius is the temp when I use some basic soft like firefox, yahoo messenger.... and the temp of my room about 30 -34 Celsius. When I plug in the speaker and play some music the temp go high so fast.
That's why I always use the balance mode and avoid using some heavy soft like adobe Photoshop, 3dmax... Sometime when I use her in the room which has air condition the temp of gpu about 51 -53 Celsius and the CPU about 41 - 43 Celsius.
I dun know how to system restore, could you tell me? I heard that some laptop like dell when I push F8 it will automatic lead me to the recovery partition. Have msi gx620 got it?
I will try to clean fan and apply thermal paste as soon as possible. Thanks for your advice -
They might have the download on MSI's website.
-
Ok. I'll check. Thanks.
-
there is no recovery disk on MSI's web. my temp recently alway go to 60 cel. hix
-
The only way you will get a recovery disk is to call msi and see if they will send one. It is possible your gpu is running at max settings while idle. Please post pictures using gpu-z so we can see your temps/settings while you are in idle.
-
There should be 2 recovery disk ISO files on C: drive (if you didnt delete it)
If not, make the new ones, before its too late... -
My idle temps are identical to yours, as I am using a MSI GX620-001.
CPU Idle: 42-46C
GPU Idle: 57-60C
CPU Load: 55-59C
GPU Load: 81-89C (Has hit 90C on a few occasions)
Granted, these temperatures do seem a bit high, but they have been this way since I have owned this laptop. (Yes, I clean out the vents, etc, but I cannot apply thermal paste as opening up the case would void my remaining warranty).
I have owned this notebook since Feb 09 & I couldn't be happier. I do plan on purchasing a Notebook cooler for cooler temps, but until I can afford one, I just keep my vents clean.
;; As a side note, I never used the Recovery Disks, never had a need to. Windows 7 is the future -
I've just discover that there is one more partition in my laptop. It's name recovery partition. But I don't know how to active it. when I use Acronis True Image to active this partition. It said there is missing boot file.
Sometime when I turn on my laptop, a blue screen appear and countdown from 100 to 0 with something like dumping memory. what's going on with my laptop?
Shadys321, what do you use to keep your vent clean? thanks -
Believe it or not, I use a shop vac that I have in the garage. I blow air in/suck air out with it directly on the vent and the tiny slits on bottom. Must be careful as you don't want to break your fan just from cleaning it
As a matter of fact I literally just cleaned them again about 5 minutes ago, and seem to notice a 2-5F difference in idle temps via HWMonitor.
As for the partition, yes it does have one in which Vista is installed on, but it is hidden. The only way I was able to access it/see it was when I reformatted, instead of inserting a Vista CD to reinstall it, it came up automatically (exact installation that occurs when you first get it, the MSI/Vista set up thing).
That may not be much help to you, I know, and for that I apologize in advance. -
What I do is set my windows power option thing to power saver while I'm net browsing, excel spreadsheeting and whatever, then when I fire up a game, I set it back to high performance. This brought my idle temp (HD4850 GT725) from 51/52 to 44/46. Big difference.
Also, just email MSI and ask if they mind you replacing the thermal paste. They said it was fine when I asked them. Theres a tutorial for doing this in my signature.
Enjoy -
If you are worried about the temperature you can always try undervolting. Since the cpu, gpu, and the chipset are on a single heatsink, reducing the temp of any one component will help. For me, the idle temp went from 46/57 CPU/GPU to 38/48, load went from 68/84 to 55/80. Ambient temp is 27 C.
On a side note, is there such a thing as custom or aftermarket heatsink for this laptop? Or at least upgrades to the thermal tape the gpu uses? -
See Darth Banes pictures he posted in another thread. Thats what you call a custom heatsink.
