Cooling mods here are all the same.

you drill holes in the bottom cover and you add copper ramsinks if there is room.

If you want to be ambitious and original, try replacing the aluminum radiator fins with a copper one. You'll need a heat gun or a a blowtorch to do the solder work, but it isn't very difficult.

i have tryed a lot of mods, the best one you can make is make 6 or 9 holes under the fan, not so big (something like 8mm) so it still can move the airflow inside of the machine, copper ramsinks over the heatspreaders didnt drop good results, thats because the copper is a good heat conductor not discipator, the alu ones are better is you have a laptop cooler like a zalman nc3000, dont forget to repaste the cpu, i didnt repaste the vga it works always cool for me, this is a picture of how looks under mi machine [IMG]

Do you have any figures for drops in temperatures for:
    1) Using ram sinks
    2) Drilling holes under the fan

after drilled under the fan the temp goes down 5c, after install copper ram sinks rise up 8c, remove them and install the alu ones, just stay like without them in idle but after turn on a game it stay 2c cooler, in my country we have like 25c all day long and humidity like 60%, so now in idle my machine works at 40c and 65c wile gaming, that without turbofan on

    Forge:

How did you make the third copper pipe for the gpu?
Have you permanently glued the ram sinks to the copper pipes?

No. This is my laptop and you are still a muppet!

You are showing pictures from the GT680R which has a Nvidia card.

The bottom picture is supposedly from a gx660.

Forge must have a gt660 upgraded to 5870m.

Forge does not have a GT660. Forge has a GX660R. Except for the drilling and taped-on copper blocks, everything else cooling-wise is stock.

Well I changed the CPU paste from MX4 to Shin Estu X23 and the temps dropped by 1-3c. I then stuck on some ram heatsink like Forge has done but this seemed to have raised the temps back up by 1-2c.

Maybe I should stick the ram heatsinks with proper thermal epoxy paste??

Not as yet as I feel uncomfortable drilling holes in the casing!
