Filtering by XTU I found nothing. But there is a overclocking intel device drive (iocbios2.sys) in the autorun. Should I disable / uninstall that?
-
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
I don't know bro. I don't have XTU installed on my system, you could try.
I highly suggest a clean install with the latest drivers from this thread minus the Dragon Center -
Some of us just have a 7700HQ.
-
iocbios2.sys is part of the XTU Driver. Disable it in Autoruns and see if it make a difference after reboot. Delete it afterwards if everything work as expeted or let it be disabled. If you can see something with XTU naming in services... Disable there as well. Do this while you run default clocks and voltage. Not oc'd or with massive undervolt.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Hi @Papusan and @Phoenix,
I did all of that and now I understand why that happens. It happens only when I press the button to change from Nvida card to Intel graphics and other way around. I do that sometimes to save battery and when I do that, the BIOS is "reseted" regarding OC. There is any way to get around this? To avoid loosing the OC settings in BIOS when I switch between the 2 graphic cards?
THANKS again for all ur help!hmscott likes this. -
I have installed a 128GB SSD(PCIE Gen3x4) and a 1TB(7200RPM)
Can i buy a 250gb ssd(pcie) install it in the 2nd slot and be able to use it as storage space?
If my windows is already installed on the 1st 128gb ssd do i end up have to re-image or reformat it? -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
nope, you don't have to do anything, you can simply add the SSD and use it
what I would do is change the drive letter of your 1TB HDD to E: and make the new SSD D: -

I had the same issue as the guy on page 59 a week or so ago, BIOS suddenly back to stock speeds. I changed it back to your settings and holding, but why recommend removing Intel XTU?
The NBR guide I used to overclock my GT73VR w/ 7820hk said that the undervolt offset can't be done from BIOS (it just accepts positive values). So I set it to 100 in BIOS (overvolt), and then in XTU reverse that to -100 -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
Well if you're on the stock BIOS, then you need XTU to undervolt since there is no way to set a negative value for the voltage offset. I'm not on the stock BIOS so I can do all my overclocking/undervolting in the BIOS and disable the Intel SGX (software guards extension) shenanigan in the BIOS.hmscott likes this. -
Or just use ThrottleStop. A better choice.
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
No!
ThrottleStop is the most complicated piece of software and the buggiest I've seen in my life. Issues like the icon not showing in the taskbar despite the process being running in task manager, not even a simple button to make it start automatically at startup so you have to manually create a task is so 1995
Oh, and it doesn't stop throttling as it claims. If there is an EC firmware limitation, then it can't stop CPU throttling so the whole point of using it is m00t
and it can't talk to the BIOS so all changes are done via software in the OS unlike XTU which can actually change the BIOS settings provided the XTU Interface option is enabled in the BIOS (but that is not available in the stock BIOS unfortunately) -
1). Yoo can’t do much if yor laptops firmware is locked down as a 100 years old Virgin. Same way for XTU
FYI. Xtu or halfway/half baked unlocked Bios can’t fix BS PROCHOT limitations. Unlocked firmware ain’t fun if you see throttling a way sooner than Intel’s spec.
2). Have seen icon flaw maybe one time. And I have used TS a hell long time. And with more than one version OS from M$ Morons.
3). If you can’t create a scheduled task... TS ain’t for you (I’m sure you fix scheduled task, bruh
). But read behind the lines.
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
oh I surely can create a task myself. Do I want to? Heck no. 90% of apps offer a simple start on Windows startup option/toggle. What's so difficult? It's not nuclear science.
I have not the need for TS and MSI's EC Firmware xxxx.108 isn't crippled and has no throttling provided you up the VR Current limit to 100A
-
I don’t run MSI as you know, but have you tested how clocks hold when temp pass 90C and above? (push up clocks bruh and test). Earlier, or maybe also current Asus notebooks will throttle once you pass 83-85C. Have even seen other brand models throttle before 80C. Saved by TS.
More than only Cpu temp can trigger throttling.Vasudev likes this. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
My taptop doesn't throttle even at 93C
-
Here we go, bruh. See if 4.5GHz from bios beats TS with same clocks. Put it further with 4.7GHz (should be same as walk in a park without being robbed due you use liquid metal
). Remember I run those bench only for
j00, bruh
So
j00 can have a goal
Easy fix as I use TS.

Makes the CPU report less power draw or more power draw than its using (negative or positive offset). Useless for us. Only useful for fully locked HQ processors or processors locked to cancer TDP or a restricted power limit like @Vistar Shook 's cancer 60W power limit on his 7820hk. Won't work if the Power limit is being enforced because of total system power limit being bypassed (like 230W) because EC will still see the total power draw and will cap the CPU to a bizarre power to bring it back to 45W TDP even though its reported wrong (like it may say 33W TDP throttle instead of 45W). All depends on the mighty EC and how locked down it is.Vistar Shook, Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
I wonder if HM175 chipset will deliver same performance as CM238

Well I beat it. At 4.7 ghz. Let's see Phoenix beat this? Since I know you'll pull out your 5.1 ghz run to beat us all ! Don't hate on my LM temps, bruh! I was using auto fans...trying to see if I could get WHEA correctable errors. Sure enough I eventually got one. So I changed from 1225mv, IA AC DC loadline=5, to IA AC DC loadline=10 and the correctable error went away (saw it in Event Log)

That's better
1) Install BIOS E17A1IMS.10C
2) After the BIOS is installed, and you see the MSI Logo, immediately press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to do a forced shutdown, only do this after you see the MSI logo
3) disconnect the power cable for 30 seconds
4) reconnect the power cable
5) turn on the taptop and enter BIOS again
6) set your boot mode to AHCI or RAID depending on what you had before but don't change anything or do any overclocking yet
7) Install the ME Firmware update, after you download it, extract it to your desktop, then simply double click on the batch file, don't right click and choose run as admin, it will fail
8) After it's done, reboot
9) now do the VBIOS update
10) You don't need a cooling pad, this laptop has the best cooling amongst any laptop, period!
Note: Everytime you download a file, right click on it, go to properties, then from the bottom right, if it says the file is blocked because it came from the internet, click the unblock tickbox and hit apply. Do this for every file you download otherwise the ZIP file and all the files within that zip will be extracted with a BLOCKED status and you may run into some serious issues.
Note 2: I provided you with the instructions to the best of my knowledge and how I did things on my system, I am not responsible if you brick your machine, do this at your own riskhmscott likes this. -
Is there a way to turn off the mousepad if a usb mouse is plugged in... i dont see anywhere in the settings to do this..
-
Falkentyne Notebook Prophet
If you have the drivers installed, you can select "disable touchpad when external mouse is connected". Some drivers are missing this option.
In some cases, this option will do nothing. This usually happens when you have other drivers which use a mouse emulation driver. Steelseries keyboard app has been known to install its own mouse driver for some reason. Razer has also been known to install stuff and have it active even when no mouse is even plugged in.
If you have that problem where the touchpad doesn't get disabled even though you have the checkbox marked, go to device manager and check for hid devices that are installed that are mouse drivers, when NO MOUSE is actually inserted. One of them should be the synaptics touchpad. For any others, check the device properties or the extended device information and see what it belongs to. Then you can just 'disable' the driver by force, which then make the checkbox actually do something.
If worse comes to worst, you can use FN+F3 to disable the touchpad. This may or may not require SCM to be installed, however.
