    Hi Guys,

i have a MS-1656 , unit after a while began switching off after 2mins of use, not heat related, core was at 45c on CPU and 65 on GPU. Battery was on full charge. Then after using it the last time on AC, took it out again , went to turn it on, lights flashed for a breif second then nothing. Tested it on another spare AC, still nothing, removed battery same deal.

Changed the DDR3 still nothing, reverted the GPU back to 250M still nothing. My fear is dead PCB

    Specs:

    - Core i7 720
    - 4GB DDR3 1066
    - HD5870 or 250M
    - 500GB SATA

    Ideas? :-(

Did you try just one stick of ram in at a time?

Try a different CPU if you happen to have one lying around (I have a drawer full..don't ask :D)

    If not then....

    Woot i fixed it!!

Seems the Bluetooth was shorting on the main PCB, i removed all componants and discharged the machine completly (meaning i got busy and left it with nothing on the mainboard for a few days, no battery NADA)

Fitted just the CPU and RAM and GPU and then the machine on just AC came back to life :D

I have since added everything back in, all good. Though i aint gonna use it no more so all those guts went into my upgrade the MS-1727 GX740 anyways
