MSI Launches GE603 Gaming Notebook - HotHardware

Interesting stuff. MSI is clearly jumping on the Optimus train here with this offering of a dual-core i5 CPU with a mid-range nVidia 4xx-series.

I really like the look of the chassis (metal? Nooo! It's a TRAP!) and clearly battery life with the Optimus+9 cell will be spectacular for a 15.6" form factor.

With the GPU, it won't be as powerful as the GX660, or upcoming GT663 models, and the lack of a USB 3.0 at this stage in the game is bordering on criminal - but clearly it's an offering to challenge the new Dell XPS systems and the mid-range offerings from ASUS and Acer.

On the "pro" side, it looks like they're keeping the premium sound (for a notebook) that we MSI people enjoy (including a notebook woofer like on other MSI models), the 720p webcam on the new GX/GT models and an HDMI port.

I hypothesize that because it comes standard with a DVD burner instead of Blu-Ray the screen resolution will be a 1366 x 768 720p HD instead of FHD, but like the article says - depending on the price-point this could be an exiting mid-range notebook offering from MSI.

It uses the same chassis as the GE600. Hopefully this will not die out like what happen to GE600.

they did the same with the ex625 (which is the father of the ge600 and the now ge603) the strange and stupid thing is that they should have gone for the chassis of the FX600 instead of keeping with this horrible chassis (yes I have a ex625)

but anyway, that gt 425 is not going to break any necks and its a great step down compared to the 5730 that came with the ge600, wonders why in the hell the move was made

So...other than the graphics card, and laptop color, what changed??

Weirdly enough I suddenly searched up the GE600 and really considered buying it, then I find the GE603 ~
