    MSI Notebook Product Specifications

Okay so I bought this for my friend a few weeks ago, but I might consider building one up for my brother. I see it is MXM 3.0b, but it has HM55 chipset, so can you swap in another 3.0b card and still support switchable graphics? Or do you HAVE to use switchable graphics, as it has dGPU, but HM55 should support Clarksfield i7's, as I do have a spare one at this moment.

Actually I believe it's MXM 3.0 type A (the heatsink gets in the way of putting in the larger type B card).

No idea about switchable graphics though.

Hrm so a 3.0b won't work due to the heatsink being larger? There were no brackets, the MXM card just screwed down to the posts that come out of the motherboard.

An MXM-B card is longer (to accommodate more mem chips and power circuitry) so there must be no obstructions to it lying flat. Otherwise the mounting is the same.

best possible vga is the 6770m. pair it with a 620m or 640m (these i7's have an igp) and it will be a decent machine. unfortunately there is no i7 quadcore support in this barebone.
