I have an MSI gt70 dominator which I bought 3 months ago. I just noticed that the battery says that it's plugged in but not charging. It's currently at 95% and I don't know what would happen if my battery were to run out. I'm guessing, it won't charge again. How do I fix this? Tried restarting, and removing the battery but to no avail.

That's normal, it begins recharging somewhere around 95% - just wait. If it drops lots lower without recharge, then there is a problem.

To protect the battery from overcharging, it is made by default that it wont start charging unless your battery drops below 95%.

It's not really over charging it's more constant 100% to 95% and back again charges which wears the battery out.

Please refer to this FAQ from MSI.
My MSI laptop says "plugged in, not charging" when I have the laptop plugged in? -
Thank you for replying. I forgot about this thread because it started charging again. Now it's back but apparently it's normal. Thanks again

I saw the issue but it wouldn't charge at all until you turned the machine off. Even at 5% it simply would not charge at all. I ran the MSI battery calibration utility and it is now working again. Still not sure why it started doing it.

You are welcome.
It's a sign that the battery may be going bad, if you see any strange issue with it again then best to contact MSI to replace it. -
Thanks, I guess I left out that it charged fine when the machine was off, just not when it was on. So over several days of being on the battery would slowly drain down to nothing. I could turn it off and you would see the charge indicator, and it would charge normally. When I turned it back on you could see the charge increase, but then it wouldn't charge anymore unless you turned it off.
So far so good but if it does it again I will definitely call in for battery replacement.
