My temperature is around 43-45 degrees, and the fan is constantly on, which sucks. My BIOS is v4.30. Is there a BIOS update which fixes the problem? Can it be solved in any other way?

I have the same problem every now and then.

Don't know why, and newst bios doesn't solve the problem. However, if you can push the temperature above what normally sets the FAN on (i.e. 50C)
This will make the notebook FAN believe that its back to normal.
At least thats my solution, but I recently found this, which I have not yet tested.

    JON:
Seems to be yet another bug in the bios/chipset/something. Fan will turn on and stay on when system is powered up, instead of when CPU gets hot.

Can be 'reset' by pulling battery and ac, and holding down the power button for about 45 secs. Then, replace battery and boot, and the fan will now be back to normal. For a while.

Strange... this used to happen to mine maybe once a week, but last few days it's been happening daily.

Okay, I may have come the problem a little closer.

It might have something to do with Battery / AC power.

When A/C powered, pulling the cord and continue to work on the laptop may somewhat confuse the thermal sensor. If you turn off the computer while still in battery mode, and then turn on the computer in battery mode - The problem may come up.

The scenario the other way around has the same effect.

I have worked with my laptop for a while now without the problem. Solution, turn off the computer in the same state as it was turned on ??

If someone else could confirm that their problem may be related to the above, then there might be something about it.
