I was going off and ran into this. They are saying it will be the GT555m going into the GX680's with only 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM. So, I guess that AMD is out the window then?

Interesting... the benches ive seen on the 555m are with ddr3 memory, ddr5 memory will speed it up a bit but I still cant see it in the same ball pack as the 460m of 5870

Actually is 555M uses MXM 3.0B? As I see what nothing it is it might be with 3.0A.

I see it running between the GTX260m and the GTX285m. The GDDR5 VRAM is going to help it some, but if they run it at 128 bit mem bus, I see it running a low 11000 score in 3d 06 maybe. No, I dont think it will be on par with the 460m or the 5870m. Its going to run like the Asus G73SW-BST6 from best buy that has a 1GB GTX 460m in it that everyone is complaining about on the Asus Fourm.

    2 things to consider:

The gx620 series? There was a gx623. And a gt628 after the gt627. Just saying.

MXM upgrade is not right about everything. The 555 could be type A which would be really cool...

Well for some reason I was on the Dell forum looking at what they where getting with the 555m when over clocking and its almost hitting 15k with the 2630qm and msi afterburner for the overclocking. That has only the GDDR3 RAM in it and MSI is talking about having GDDR5 RAM in the GX680. So, maybe it won't be so bad after all. But who knows really till it comes out and we can play with them. I might change my mind about getting a new laptop after all, but it will be either the GT780 or GX780.

I believe the 560m is the upcoming replacement for the 460m. As people have posted in other threads if the second digit is lower, so is the performance (a rule of thumb not always precise)

OK, here's the results after installing the 270.51 Beta Drivers. All tests were done with the 270.51 Beta drivers and the default setting for the benchmark tests.

This is with the dell xps 17 and 1600x900 res screen. First to the left is stock with new driver. The right one is overclocked with MSI afterburner.

Did you noticed that they've changed the specifications? Here is says that it will come with GTX 460M.

    Edit:
    Ooops, it is GT680 ...

This is GX680 and is interesting. Says that it comes with 6870.

Well, MSI has said two things so far. Last they posted it was coming out with the 555m. But we will just have to wait and see which cards comes out in it.

First and for most this notebook is not out yet. MSI is saying this notebook will be out later this year. Maybe July or August hopefully. And as for Canada, I would say anywhere the MSI GT680r's are being sold will also carry the GX680.

Your guess is good as mine. No word yet on the final specs and what not of the laptop.
