if anyone has time, can you post some gameplay videos just to wow us?
-
Brilliant idea, i think Dirt 2 is a good game to display!
-
Haha I was just hoping for some variety.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv17Sjor8lk
It might still be processing so pls wait and watch in HD(also keep in mind that fraps took somewhat 10 fps off)
specs
battlefield Bad company 2 gameplay coming up tomorrow, stay tuned
Also, suggest other programs/ games for me to try out, i'll film them and put up the gameplay vids. just try not to ask for closed betas
Oh almost forgot, while rendering the video in adobe premiere pro cs3 (i know cs4 is out but i can't rly afford it) i wanted to check the temps, cpu never even went over 80
this i5 430 handles video quite well.
-
Ahh man way to go, playing the game awesomely!!

*chokes on popcorn from 2 nights ago*
:O!!!!!!
How were the temperatures?
-
i posted a pic 2 pages back, the GPU max was @88 degrees after 30 mins.
-

Wow... honestly the 640 handles temps nicely...
88C seems a bit high (To me), but it might be just me because my 8600mGT started throttling @ 86C...
Has anyone experienced throttling? -
can anyone link to the newest ati drivers for this laptop? I dont think i'm downloading the right ones. thanks
-
ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver
10.4
my vantage score went from 5181(stock driver) to 7123 (10.4)
3d06 went from 10k to 11.5k -
I tried this:
Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM
And when I installed them nothing happened. I'd restart, and there's be no ATI drivers installed. -
That's because it's the desktop driver.
-
You are helpful.
-
You need to choose mobility radeon from the list.(not notebook)

Awesome dead, was looking for those, cheers bud

Oh by the way, I "de-stickered" my laptop today, and must say that the big GX640 sticker WAS NOT the biggest problem! It was the tiny 'Intel Core i5" sticker that drove me insane. After peeling it off i tried to get the goo off with my fingers, then the rubber-trick (worked on the big sticker nicely btw) to no avail. Finally got angry and took some 98 proof spirits, put it on some cotton and bloody rubbed it off the face of the earth ]

I apologize, but I had to laugh out loud at this.
If only all of life's problems were so easy to figure out and solve.

haha i was installing the desktop drivers when I first got the gx640 too, until I realised
-
Well if it makes you feel any better I tried installing the mobility and then I had to restore because black screen on boot. odd
-

Lol, I had that problem years ago, when I tried to install some desktop nvidia drivers on to my hp with go6150 haha...
Everyone goes through that at least once...

I always get a BSOD at the end of uninstalling ati drivers (after I hit the restart thing) for some reason, but then I boot up fine and just install the new ones and everything is all good
-
That's weird... Anyway, I recommend using driver cleaner to get rid of all the crap left behind when unistalling.
-
This something I'm noticing, has anyone found that they're hearing more sound from the left speaker than the right?
-
Yes, it makes me very, very mad...
Probably the laptops enclosures not being ballanced out. -
-
Haha, its the left side a bit quieter for me, same with you?
I dont know why really, although at higher volumes i think it ballances out, -
SRS isn't bad, from what I've tried with my headphones; it does indeed seem to make the sound seem more 3D.
-
just fyi if you click on the link i provide it takes you to the mobility driver
.
i dont think you need to driver sweep anymore. the last time i used driver sweeper was when 5870 got released and i upgraded my 4870. win7 did not appreciate it . had to reinstall windows for drivers to work properly.
i disabled speaker on first boot. the speakers are horrid, but so are most laptop speakers. -
I always use DC before installing new drivers and never came across a single issue ..
Sweeper ain't that good. -

I can see by your comment that you've never had to delete a post in your 43 post counter.
I can also see that you've amassed an impressive 8 rep count in just 43 posts. Interesting....

Which deriver cleaner are you referring to? Could you provide a link please? Thanks.

As promised, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gameplay on MSi GX640!
YouTube - Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Gameplay on MSI GX640
Yeah I know i sucked while playing, but I just wanted to make a few examples with graphic effects going on. Here are the graphic specs
These are on DX11
The gameplay went smooth, even with fraps recording (though unlike in metro 2033 , here fraps took off a whopping 20fps!). The average FPS was 35-40 which is completely enough for the game to run fluently. The i5 handled Destruction 2.0 really well, without even a hint of fps drop.
After running for 30 min the temperatures were:
Next I'm going to test NBA 2k10, and after that, Dragon Age: Origins. You could make suggestions on what to test afterwards. -
those are some cool temps, do you use a laptop cooler?
-
Cool is relative. For dual fan systems HD5850 would be around 75C or less. But my guess it's stock settings he's getting those temps, for a single fan system I think it's impressive.
But even with good dual fan systems, I think it's a good idea now to get a notebook cooler. For only $30 it's a good safeguard, so why not.
Some GX640 users are reporting good stuff with the Thermaltake Massive 23 ST, which is also the same cooler that I'm hoping will arrive today for me -
Also I recommend uninstalling Intel Engine Management if you have installed. Once you go into Device Manager, some weird PCI Simple Communication device will be there, disable it. For whatever reason, I've seen a huge boost in my wireless performance overall better GPU stability, lower temps, lower fan noise etc. The Intel Engine Management is the whole useless junk Intel added which seems it may be good for a business network for admins to check on your PC remotely. I don't know, in theory sounds cool, guessing in practice useless. But for consumers, seems to be huge drag on system performance.
Of course if you do a fresh install of Windows, don't install it
