Hi all you knowledgable folk.
My gs60 has had a fight with a rather heavy lump of wood! I want to sell it as spares. Can anyone tell me what components are likely to be damaged?![]()

You would have to open it and check to know if anything is damaged inside.

Contact MSI directly as you can probably restore this PC without paying for the whole computer again.

I'd love to see the after shots when you get it back to help dispel the images above ^-^

Let's see what they want to charge for the repairs first

How long have you had it and where did you buy it?

Currently using a dell (i3, 4gb, no gfx, res 1366 x 768, makes my eyes bleed!!!). -

If they don't reply, contact MSI HQ in Taiwan directly and they can definitely assist you.
Make sure to provide a reference # such as your RMA#. -
Ok, MSI wants €800 to repair. Decided to buy a complete new laptop. Anyone know if the stealth models are quieter when gaming than the ghosts?

What was damaged though? -
Hi Kevin,
MSI didn't even inspect the ghost, they quoted via email.
I need to hdmi the laptop to a monitor and check if it still boots, as when I removed the HDD it started (well the keyboard and monitor lit up) but I haven't had time.
I still want a replacement/upgrade.....If I buy a GT72 with out a ssd installed will it be missing the superraid daughterboard like the GT60/70 did? -

Under the keyboard area of GS60, there laid the AAA components....
Lucky that HDD might not get hit directly?!

Otherwise, it depends. -
Firstly, how on earth did you do that!
But also, could you have cover under your home contents insurance? -

MSI also offer accidental warranty if you had registered the product within 30 days of purchase, but if it was missed then there's no coverage except standard limited warranty. -
OK, I have given up on MSI support. I have stripped the ssds/hdd and ram. Decided to treat myself to the GT72S 6QE. This looks the like a moster upgrade. Christmas bonus should cover the cost
Having to wait until November is going to be the challenge..... https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-224-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828 -
Ok, bumping this old thread.
So financial matters meant no new GT72s. I have just managed to bag a GT72, i7 4720hq with GTX980m. This comes with a single m.2 ssd.
1, is there a way to put my old 2 ssd's in and keep the original raid from the GS?
2, if this is possible, can I then back up the raid as an image (or ???) and then clear the raid0 and add the 3 m.2 ssd and put all 3 in raid0 then put the image across all 3?
Laptop is due tomorrow. Happy Days!!!
TIA.Last edited: Nov 20, 2015 -

1. I think I answered this in your other thread, basically there is a good chance if the new machine is in raid mode it should be plug and play.
2. Once in you can take an image of the raid set, store it somewhere and then raid them all together and restore it.MiSJAH likes this.
Ooops. Goodbye gs60 2pe
