    Hi,
I'm trying to fix a MSI U135 netbook, the problem is, it doesn't switch on, I have bought a new power adapter but still there's no power light, could it be the fried MB? I am not sure how it happened or why, please let me know what else I could check, Thanks.
EDIT: If I change the MB, could I be able to activate the windows with the product key in COA at the back of the netbook or do I need to ring for phone activation? Thanks.

It could be the board or the DC jack specifically. And yes, if you change the board you can still use the COA sticker (Windows 8 embedded keys are the trouble when board replacement arises).

DC jack will be more cost effective to replace, even if it's soldered to the board ─ but if you want to do it yourself, you will need the materials and the know how.

Thank you Prostar Computer, I'll go for a MB as I don't have the tools or the skills to do a soldering, as you said the DC jack is cheap and a used working MB is around £20-£30, so I'll try the MB route, Thanks again for your help.

Just an update, my friend's MSI U135 resurrected back to life with a used MB (£18), Thanks.

Glad to hear it's all good to go. Did you conduct some stress tests just to make sure everything else is working as it should?

Yes, I ran prime95 for a couple of hours, everything working fine except the battery which doesn't charge but it doesn't matter as my friend use it on a desk connected with AC adapter.
