I've heard it runs pretty hot. Do the temps get bad enough to make a real difference in the lifespan of the machine? I've heard the ge70 runs about 10 celcius cooler so I've been considering it instead. But I'm going to college soon and the portability of the ge60 would be really nice. Can anyone here tell me at what temperatures do I run the risk of internal component damage? Does the ge60 apache reach these temps?

Also, how much of a decrease in temperature would I get if I got XoticPc's IC diamond thermal compound AND copper cooling upgrade?

The copper cooling will not help load temps. The machine should run just fine.

The copper cooling for me via XoticPC was 4 small copper heatsinks for I think $60. Total waste of money and a rip off. Though it helps in some situations but since you'll have the same heatsink as I do, it's next to useless for your case. IC Diamond will be the best upgrade IMO for thermals since you might have a laptop with crap thermal compound pasting (I did).

Ah, okay. A lot of people are saying that they get temps of 92 degrees Celsius even WITH cooling pads (during gaming) How much of a difference would the IC diamond thermal paste really make?
