I have been thinking about getting a GT627 for a while now and I have been reading reviews about it. From what I have learned so far the laptop sounds great.

The only thing that is holding me back is the low battery life. I was wondering if it is actually as bad as some people say. Its rather important for me that the battery of the laptop lasts at least 3 hours so that I can use it for classes and such. I don't plan do do any gaming while it's not plugged in, so I'm not concerned about that.

Also I think I read in a few places that the performance of the GT627 drops quite a bit, even for watching youtube videos when its not plugged in... Also a bit worried about that.

Is the battery life of the 1651 better? I assume that it should be since it has a 9600 but I just wanted to check... I wouldn't really mind getting the 1651 since I can get it with a mate screen which is cool... so would it be a better option for me?

The battery life on both models is just about the same. I cannot post links here in this forum but if you look in our forum there is a post in the msi section "MSI GT627-218US Battery Life With Stock 9-Cell". Quite a few customers asked so we posted this, also this was done with a T9550 and a P8600. Max runtime was 3Hrs 10Min with the stock cpu.

Well that makes me feel slightly more at ease. Thank you for your reply.

Still wondering though how the performance is affected when on battery for watching videos and such?
