I just recently got a nice backpack for my E7405, and it brings a couple questions of proper laptop care to my mind:

    1. Is it alright to leave the laptop in the backpack with the DVD tray side down first? Would jostling of the backpack jostle the drive as well, or perhaps do something to the eject button?

    2. Is there any particular proper or safety-conscious way of carrying a laptop by hand? As not to damage anything?

    1) I suppose having it DVD side down could theoretically pop the eject button open. Hard to say how likely that is to happen. If your worried about it, put it into the Backpack the other way no?

    2) Generally, just use two hands when moving the laptop around, and close the monitor lid. I always hold them from the sides since it's more stable. It's cool to do the hold it under the arm thing, I guess, but that's often how people end up dropping them.

*) Also, when opening/closing the lid, you should always opening it evenly, with one hand pulling the lid up from the middle or use two hands to evenly open it from each corner. Generally avoid opening the lid by pulling up on only one corner, as it puts torque on the hinges.

Just to let you know if you are planning on putting the laptop daily in and out of the bag, then it is good to know that the bag is actually a little smaller for a 17" and if you use the bag too frequently you might, like me break the bezel.
