    Hi guys,

I would like to rebrand my MSI GT83VR 6RF to 7RF but it seems DMI is read only.
How to unlock it to change that string, have you got any idea?

I tried to dump bios and change it with hex editor but it cannot be flashed back that way.

Any suggestion will be appreciated :)

    Thanks!

What do you need it for?

In principle, this can be done using FPT, but I'm not sure if this DMI region will be stitched.
The FPT utility can be downloaded from the archive " CSME System Tools v11 r42.rar".

    Making a bios backup:
    FPTW64 -D backup_full.bin
    FPTW64 -D backup_small.bin -BIOS
    * Most likely you need to work with a stripped-down bios (small) since the full bios will not be able to flash without a programmer.

Edit the desired area and flash.

    Flashing the bios:
    FPTW64 -rewrite -F bios.bin
    FPTW64 -rewrite -F bios_small.bin -BIOS

    // edit

,..,changing the name of the product does not solve anything?
and still is question "hw support" is this 6TH mobo compatible for RGB keyboard from 7TH ???

and try EC RESET ! ,.,.,.best way - REQUEST "msi forum ,.@SVET" -EC / BIOS mod if your problem is only SW-ID

I need it to use full RGB keyboard inside GT83VR that originally came with red illuminated keyboard. I believe SteelSeries Engine reads device marketing name and adopts driver according to what it reads. Inside SSE app there's a folder with all device drivers and there are 3 versions of MSI GT83VR files, I guess for 6th, 7th and 8th gen. I think if I change it to 7RF color scheme would appear in SSE but not sure if that would help to use keyboard colors normally.

I've got Ideazon with same PID, but no precisionwave. What's that used for?
I think this is just software issue, it's got noting to do with HW.
