    Hey,

Basically I'm wanting to sell my MSI GX660-R because I'm migrating back over to the dark side (Mac). The reason I went MSI was due to it being a complete powerhouse, but now I don't need all that power anymore, as I don't play games or do a lot of video editing/cad work.

The reason I bought the MSI was because I spilt strongbow all underneath the mac and I thought it had broke, and now, 6 months later I have managed to get it working again. So I want to sell both laptops to make enough to buy the new MBP!

These are the specs of the machine I want to sell:
    Optical Drive 4X Blu-Ray Read/DVDRW Optical Drive

Primary Hard Drive 256GB Crucial C300 Solid State Drive SATA III

Secondary Hard Drive 500GB 7200rpm SATA II

    Screen 15.6 inch 16:9 1920X1080 FHD/LED glossy

Dead Pixel Warranty Standard Manufacturer Dead Pixel Warranty

Thermal Compound IC Diamond 24 Carat Thermal Compound on CPU/GPU

Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Pre-installed

    GPU ATI HD5870 1GB GDDR5, DX11

    WiFi Intel Advanced-N 6200 802.11 a/b/g/n Wireless LAN

    CPU i7-740QM, 1.73~2.93GHz, 2.5 GT/s, 45nm, 6MB, 45W

    RAM 8GB PC3-1333Mhz DDR3 (2GB x 2 + 4GB x 1)

    Webcam 720p HD Webcam

    Bluetooth Built-in Bluetooth™ V2.0+EDR

Warranty MSI 2 Year Limited/ 1 Year Global Warranty

I've had the machine 8 months, overall fairly happy with it, just too bulky to carry around now, and would much prefer a mac.

    Thanks in advance

EDIT: Just realised I had wrote GT instead of GX. It's actually the GX660R which is a big improvement!

So if you guys could re-evaluate again I would be greatful.

    1400-ish.

There's refurb/open-box GT680R for $999.99 so all your additions would add up to around $400.

It's got a bit of cosmetic damage though, the plastic on the bevel around the screen and the lid. Just light scratches.

I paid just under $3k originally, so that is a big drop.

Where would I go about selling it, ebay?

Yeh around $1100 or less would be good.

Because I could get a new system with similar specs for $1200.

    Really though?

The 256GB SSD is an extra $500 new... And it has 8GB of ram + a 500GB HDD, a $50 internal wireless card which has 3 antennas instead of 2.

I bought it for $2800 so how on earth could you get that new for $1100? I would be pretty gutted if you could because in less than a year I would of lost around $1700 on it.. Not cool.

I think your best bet would be to visit powernotebooks.com or gentechpc.com and configure an MSI GT680 similarly and check out the price. That way, you could get the price of a new one, and reduce from there...

The only option you wouldn't be able to configure is the ATI 5870 which should be a higher priced than the Nvidia 460M on offer...

For the sake of it i made the closest i could at xotic
    Crucial m4 instead of c300
    Intel 6205 instead of 6200
    Gtx 285m instead of 560m
    Total:2043

Few notes though, the intel 6200 only has 2 antennas and can be had for $30, the 6300 has 3.
Also the c300 256gb sells for less than $500 now. I'm not sure about what it would sell for but i wouldn't be surprised if it's only 1100 at this point, i mean 8 months...is quite a bit of time. A brand new similarly specced MSi laptop using the sandy bridge chips/crucial m4 and a 560m is about the 2k mark as well.

What is the health on that ssd?
Just a opinion i would say anywhere between 1000-1500 depending on wear and damage.
