should i buy a new high end laptop? i know all these new hardwares and gpu are coming out recently, but im really looking forward to buy a new laptop to do gaming and 3d rendering.. but im not patient at all and my actual pc is not working for me anymore. how long will it take to companies like MSI introduce all these new gpu and processors to their laptops? or other companies??!
I was kinda hoping for nvidia to announce their new kepler gpu today, but their press conference just finish and there was no kepler related announcements.
UPDATE
i need this computer mostly for 3d rendering, cad, and 3d modeling, since i am an architecture student.

New GPUs for laptops that are better than the current high end ones are still quite a while away... It should be AMD first in about a abit more than a couple of months and nvidia further down the year.
You can probably get the 780DXR and enjoy it as is. It's a decent laptop even if new GPUs do come out, its not like it will be crap by then. -
you can get the best possible gpu with the GT783 currently. It will be at least June or July for something new to come out from nVidia (April or May for AMD). But to be honest even the GTX 570M should be good enough for you.

I would be more worried about MSI poor build quality.

Says the guy who uses the notebook on his chest and complains about fan speed on a high powered laptop. High powered gaming notebooks are meant for use on hard surfaces to maximize fan speed. Just because another word for them is "Laptops" does not mean it should be used in your lap! This is the reason why manufactures have converted to using the name "Notebooks". They probably never realized the modern day consumer would actually block all fan ports by using it in their lap "or chest". Seriously though, this is something my wife would do.
Don't listen to this guy. He thinks Asus has a better build quality and is nitpicking on MSI for their power plug design choice. Keep in mind, nobody else has a problem with the way the power cord plugs into the back. -

I game with mine on my lap, it's just a question of positioning.

not sure if trolling...

Yes it is possible but the average user does not pay attention to airflow or if their blocking vents/intakes.
-
He is. He was just complaining about how MSI uses a rear port and that they soldered the port to the mother board. He said Asus was better build quality because they don't solder the power port to the board. You know, Asus just solders the GPU to the board.

Which is surprising as MSI have designed the vents so its hard to cover a large part of them without actually trying to do so. -
I was talking about notebooks in general. I was saying that manufactures stopped calling them laptops for the most part because people were taking it literally and using them on their laps, beds and pillows causing them to over heat.

I think it's just that notebooks is an American term while laptop is a UK term.
-
All I know is that I have lived in America my entire life and grew up calling them laptops and still to this day call them laptops. So does every American friend I have. In fact, I've never heard anyone in person ever call them a notebook. Trust me, Laptop is used in the US (at least in my area) a lot more than notebook.

While in the UK shops mostly use laptop rather than notebook.
