C'mon, let us know the resolution of the screen, so we know if to expect higher than 1080p screens on other laptops later as well!

..... my GAWD......with all the GT80 has to offer, we have these folks focusing on WRIST REST? REALLY? C'mon fellas! LOL! :D

@ryzeki, Agreed! I think MSI has closely followed the feedback on this one, and has most likely done everything right. My biggest worry is temps, but I suspect even these will be nice.... especially for an X-treme/SLi machine. I can't wait to put this machine though it's paces. I'll let you know how it goes, and will post some benchmarks for you...... to ease your pain, while waiting for yours to arrive. ;) :D

Does anyone think this will cost upward of 5k? Because that's pretty much the price barrier for me. I know MSI is targeting a richer generation of gamers, but for most of us, myself included, we have thrift. I could easily afford a 7k laptop but I refuse to pay that ridiculous sum of money for a computer when I could easily buy a more powerful desktop for half the price. So, does anyone here think that an upgraded version of the GT80 will pass the $5k mark or no? I'm just saying, if it does, a lot of buyers will just go get a Sager, equally powerful for less money. The one thing MSI has over Alienware at this point is reasonable prices, if this thing outprices a fully upgraded A18 then MSI just lost their advantage. A pretty clacker keyboard isn't enough to convince wealthy folks to burn their wallets...

    http://www.justlaptops.net.nz/msi-gt80-i7-4980hq-32g-1t-ssd-1t-hdd-sli-gtx980m-3122

Well, it looks like we may be getting an idea on cost:

    NZ to USD
    0.78×6,250=US$4,875

    EU to USD
    1.21×4,300=US$5,203

The French and New Zealand configurations appear to differ, which may account for some of the price difference.

    France gets:
    4 128g m2 SSDs and 1 TB hd

    New Zealand gets:
1 TB ssd and 1 TB hd

    Do I have that correct?

No 4K screen for either, but the US configuration will likely be slightly different. Particularly, given the $dollar advantage! Which is the only positive about all this waiting, the dollar continues to rise (at least for those in the USA).

Guessing, the USA makeup will have the 4 ssds with MSI's "super raid" and likely the 1 tb hd.

So, what of the 4k screen? I wager the USA it will be 4K. Has to be if the GT80 Titan is going to be "Titan", at the top of the US market. It WILL have to have 4k!

Will the USAhave more choice and flexibility with the configuration and price points?

Guessing the US price will be likely be $4,999.99! I'd be a LOT more comfortable with a US$3500 to $4000 price range with some cutback.

At these prices Sager gets more appealing, specifically the model with the desktop cpu! Though, the latest version will require more waiting.

I'm guessing the US final retail price will come in at $4,799.00....1k above the top model of the GT72. I like it, still hoping for a 4k screen though.

Also, I have another question, these dual 980 GTX's, are they 8GB each (16GB total) or 4 GB each (8GB total)? If they are the latter it will be annoying, Sager will have them beat...

With how much msi have been advertising the upgrade-ability of their new lineup of laptops, i see no reason as to why it wouldn't have the 8gb as its not soldered, however some models of the gt72 have been coming with a 970m3g / 980m4gb, although then again for their top of the line trump card product i don't imagine that they will skimp out on anything when it comes to the raw specs.

Girlfriend has authorized purchase of Titan.
P377SM is looking mighty fine though, since a lot of the resellers are quoting soldered processors... Sigh.
    Anyone wanna buy a P170SM? :D

For those of you who are still wondering, http://www.playtech.co.nz/afawcs0139235/CATID=919/ID=24638/SID=710773645/productdetails.html my local pc store has the titan already listed for a while now, these specs could be a good reflection of what the other international versions also will release like. Sadly it appears the new zealand version will indeed launch with a 1080p screen, but the other specs should be about the same in terms of internal hardware.

Meh, pre-order specs (a couple of SKU's) have been coming out of France for a couple of days now, and I am seeing an AU SKU too...... yet US pre-orders remain unavailable. I suspect we will see a surprise or two coming from the MSI booth at CES. :)

MSI GT80 Titan Gaming Laptop Full Review

Not a bad review coming from NZ, but I was a bit lost whenever the reviewer discussed 'gaming' battery life. Why bother? I would not recommend gaming with this notebook, unplugged from the AC.

    :)

So, no chance at a 4k screen? :(

Also, from what he said I would assume this thing packs dual 980m's with 4 Gb each for a total of 8gb...is this correct? If so, I'm kinda bummed out since I could get a Sager with dual 8gb cards (total 16gb) for less....

It's not bad to have the option to game on battery, or at least do intensive work, and it was one of the key features in nVIDIA's PowerPoint :)

It seems to me like a dual-fan machine, correct me if I'm wrong. The temps in the review are not really telling the whole story. It all depends how fan profiles are set-up, but he said it gets pretty noisy, so yeah, I guess it would has hard time if you download nvinspector for example (and start playing with it obviously) :) Waiting for some owner input :p

OOOHHHH PLAYTECH how you continue to impress me :D, to those of you wondering, this is the new zealand release of the gt80 and only has a 1080p screen for now. It has almost been undoubtedly confirmed different sku's of the gt80 are going to be releasing around the world and it just so happens that new zealand got the short end of the straw when it came to the screen. This may be because of the currency exchange rate and all and nz being a difficult country to send the laptops to and some compromises have to be made. Taking into account nz only had i think it was 2 sku's of the gt72 (970m and base 980m) until just recently.

This my friends, is what $7300 nz dollars looks like

I really expected a 4k or at least 1440p 120Hz panel. That's actually quite a big disappointment since a 980M SLI setup can be OCed to the performance of a desktop 970 SLI setup.
That aside, it's your move Alienware. :D

In practice, you get the same vRAM in SLI as you would with one card since frame buffer is mirrored on both cards. That means with two 4GB 980Ms, you still only get 4GB of usable vRAM. Yeah, they should have used the 8 GB versions.

If what you say is true then that means they did indeed use the 8GB versions, as they specifically state 2 x 980m GTX 8GB VRAM...

Remember that since optimus is not on the machine any panel should be overclockable.
