For some reason it seems like on idle my processor is running at 50% (using RMclock to undervolt and thats what it reports) but what is strange as soon as I open Task Manager, I see the spike of 50% in the performance tab, but then it drops down to lower levels

Maybe auto windows update is checking online?
This usually only takes place the first boot up each day?

doh long morning. there has to be something running then during the spike can you tell us what is using the cpu up. if it drops as soon as you open task manager you can try something like a separate program like process explorer or similar. maybe that will prevent it from dropping while you check

It would be easier if you change to the Process Tab and sort by CPU, that way you'll catch the process. :)

    Cheers!

I actually already turned off prefetch because I had issues with it on my last machine :/ I'm not sure what is going on or if it is fixed or not but I am going to keep monitoring it.

On a different note, where did OCon go?
